correct...the R154 is only about 6-700$ and the 6spd starts around $4500.00...the 5spd will be just fine for me up to around 7-800hp then i know its gnna break...but since im only shooting for 5-600hp...i think i should be alright
id be concerned about the input shaft size, length, # of teeth, etc. im sure it could be done given the right amount of time/money invested.
I was thinking about it because if possible and if it could be done for under just say $2,000. It might be worth it as a used 6 speed Getrag goes for more than $2,000-3,000 easy. ( Just saw one for sale for $4,xxx Low Mileage)
How much more "reliable" will a Getrag be over a 350z Trans(I'll go with CD 009) at high power / torque. 800-1,000whp with a 2JZ for the most part will only see 600-700 MAYBE 800wtq.
For the price difference, if possible, I feel a 350z Trans (Example: CD 009) will do the job perfect holding that power/torque. With using a Z trans, it might be possible to keep the Z Driveshaft then as well. Going on if the Trans didn't have to be moved forward or back.
