First start after dead battery - revs to redline repeat
My car has been down for a while without being started, so the battery died. I jumped it of to get it to start and now every time that I start the car, it revs to redline, his the limiter, falls back, revs to redline, falls back, etc. it does this in fast, one to two second intervals. I have made no changes since it was running fine when I parked it. My first thoughts are throttle related, but I wanted to see if anyone had an opinion. I didn't find anything searching.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.

I also noticed that she was on empty (gas). I went ahead and put in 5 gallons of brand new Exxon 93 and let it sit for a bit in case I had some bad gas.
Also, it isn't doing it to redline, just to 4500-5000 RPM each time. If I touch the gas pedal at all, it will rev to red line and then work its way back down to the 4500-5000 range after several rev cycles.
Here is a video of what she's doing - you'll see that I'm not the one doing the revving when I step back out and it keeps doing it.

I tried disconnecting the throttle body connector and connecting it back, no difference. I guess I'll try the TB reset procedure next. But my neighbors are definitely not enjoying my troubleshooting since I'm TP & True Dual exhaust.

You guys aren't going to believe this, but it had something to do with my Osiris Maps. I know this for a fact, because:
1) I started the car and it was actively doing the rev thing
2) I changed Osiris maps just to see if anything would happen
3) it immediately stopped doing the rev thing
I also then switched to each map setting and none of them brought the problem back.
So I'm thinking that something happened to corrupt the copy of my Osiris map that was in flash memory. I had to do the map switching to have it reload the map from the EEPROM again.
This 100% resolved the problem.
Hopefully no one else will have this same issue, but the thread is out here in case they use search.
Thanks to everyone for your help - I was completely stumped.

djamps, I was outside trying a bunch of things when you replied, but I'm glad that you thought of Osiris also. I literally just stumbled across the fix because I was starting to try things like check the "slip block" in the truck, make sure my ABS was connected, turn on/off TCS, switch Osiris maps, etc.

Glad that is solved
A few random observations:
1. Your car is loud as shizz
2. I now know what you look like - puts face to screen name
3. You handled that FAIL very well, I would have been throwing things and cursing in the video.
4. The "Be POLITE" on the door, what is that about? Is it for people you have to pass on the right? Beautiful car BTW
Glad you noodled throught the issue, hope they can rebuild the file and re-install for free.

I waited to start throwing things and cussing when I got started on the original planned work of swapping camber and traction arms. Between trying to get at nuts and bolts (I have air tools, gear wrenches, wobble attachments, ratchets, you name it and this was still a beyatch), and trying to get the arms to fit for mounting, I'm already beat and don't have the first side done yet. I think that I'm going to need some heavy duty clamps/jacks to force things to fit. This is definitely not one of the fun DIY projects.

I would figure out how to make that behavior into a loadable map with remote start to scare innocent people in parking lots and what not.
And what is the deal with 'be polite'? Your car is NOT very polite I might add... :P

Well, I was working on building an online community that targeted Law Enforcement, Fire, Rescue, and Armed Services peeps - and that all profits went to rewarding deserving members of those communities. For advertising, the idea was to end up with a vehicle to represent each group and to have them out at shows, races, etc. My car was the Law Enforcement car & since you cannot legally put the word POLICE on the side of your vehicle, I had to come up with a legal way to make it as close as possible. Tada... the PoliteCar was born.
Life with a new job and new baby girl has put the online community goals pretty low on the priority list, but I'm still wanting to make it happen. My original goal was to have it done by the end of 2011, but I'm just not sure that I have the time to dedicate to such a project right now.

HAHAHA, that's great... I did a double take when I saw it! You did a fantasitic job on the font italics and gradient. Keep up the good work I am glad you are pursuing something that matters to you
OBTW, Congrats on the new job, and the baby you made
