Default Whining noise after oil cooler installation

so i installed my ARC oil cooler a couple of weeks ago and now i hear some whining noice coming from the front of the car......most of the time in 1st and 2nd gear (but i guess thats only because you drive very "slow" at that point).
never had any noice like this before

vo7848 allready mentioned this noice on his arc oil cooler before

https://my350z.com/forum/engine-and-...rogress-5.html

from post #92 on, but didnīt came up with a "solution" or the cause of this noice.so maybe anyone could help me with this one!

Is your oil pressure fine?
How is the oil cooler connected? ARC sandwich adapter?
Does the sound change with RPMs or vehicle speed?
How's your oil level? Checking it daily? Weekly? Condition of oil, such as color, smell, and consistency? Keep in mind, installing an oil cooler will increase your oil capacity.
How are your oil temps?
Same oil you used before?
Any oil leaks?
How big are the hoses?
Does the adapter have a thermostat?

Semi-related... I have a Trust 13-row oil cooler with a thermostat. No sounds come from it.

oil pressure is at 3000 rpm around 85psi.....oil level should be fine just changed it with the oil cooler (400km ago) i checked it even today and it was fine!
oil temp is around 82-95 depending on wheather condition.
i used the same oil my dealer had used for the first oil change (car has now around 20000km!!!! itīs a 2005). as for oil leaks.....i donīt see any (no oil drops at the garage floor!) the hoses are -10 hoses (not sure the diameter, but these where delivered with the ARC kit).and yes i have a mocal thermostat which opens at 80°C......what i also noticed is that this whining noice is hearable only when the engine/oil gets warm! so it must have to do something with the oil cooler itself....who nows????

what i also noticed is that i have a "grinding" noice in the 4th and 5th gear around 2500rpm......iīm not sure where this comes frome but it sounds like a wheel bearing which failed! ....but could this be with only 20000km and no rude driving????
or could it be the wheel itself? i stored them for over 2 years and this is the first time that i installed them back on the car (i already drove 30km after the install without any kind of noice....but iīm not sure since i test drove the car with windows open). the tires are 6 years old with about 15000km on them.........but i have absolutly no clue what this f+#k is all about

One day my dad was backing his truck out of his shop threading the needle around all the equipment in the yard. Somehow he missed seeing a low dolly loaded with pipe and bumped it into the front of my MG poking a hole in the oil cooler. He rigged up a replacement with a cooler and lines he had in the shop. The replacement whined loudly as the engine revved up, unlike the stock unit that had been silent. Dad said that this was a common phenomenon with things like installing heavy-duty auto transmission coolers etc. He rerouted the oil lines so that they weren’t transmitting the oil surging sounds to the car’s frame and sheet metal parts amplifying the sound. No more whining except from me about the damage to my beloved car.

Maybe you could rearrange/insolate the cooler mounts or line routing to eliminate the whining noise.

85psi at 3k rpms??? You said 85* oil temps. Is that C or F? If you are at 85* C and have 85psi oil pressure at 3k rpms then oil pressure is way too high. I'm at around 50-60psi at 3k rpms. Maybe the oil cooler caused a restriction.

Nothing I can think of other than something mechanical from the install rubbing would cause a weird grinding noise up front.

@jennifer 2: could be thatīs what iīm thinking too...since VO has the same phenomenon with his ARC cooler, i think itīs the oil cooler itself (or maybe the way itīs mounted).

@binder: just checked the german 350z forum and most of the guys here are around the same oil pressure than me ?!?!?!

so problem is still not solved

XM-1, look at the routing of the oil lines, if one or both are draped over or touching any frame rails, bumper supports, etc. try moving them away or insulating them and see if that makes a difference. That was what fixed my car.

May try a different brand oil filter, I have had quite a few aftermarket oil filters cause a very strange squealing noise on the VQ's, What filter are you using? Does the noise change as you change the RPM's of the engine? Can it be duplicated sitting still at idle?

@ruthless: for sure :P

@cuztompartz: it's an oem oil filter!! and as far as i noticed it only whines when the thermostate is closed or let's keep it this way only when the oil is circulating through the cooler.what i want to know is if it's harmfull for the engine/oil pump???
at a cold start there's no whining (should have mentioned that before sorry guys )

@jenn: i think they are draped over on one point...already wanted to insulate them, but didn't had the time! i'll try it maybe on the weekend and let u know
