2006 Rev-Up Motor on 03-05 Questions
Should be getting my hands on a 06 rev-up for free, only problem is i think its got rod knock. Planning on ripping it out, and checking the actual damage as to whats still usable. Depending on condition on everything, will start off building the bottom end, and slowly building the engine. Until i decide to swap it into my car. Couple concerns, from what ive been reading.*correct me if im wrong* i need the 06 harness, not sure if i can use my 03 ecu (possibly use a stand alone on top of the 03 ecu or is a 06 ecu required as well.
i know its silly to put a rev-up in a non rev, but im getting it for free, and could use a nice little project. any suggestions, ideas, thoughts, questions are welcome. If everything works out, ill start a lil build thread for you guys if you want.

You have 2 choices , convert the rev up to a normal de or add the proper electronics. My spare motor is a rev up , mostly converted to DE now.

mmm interesting, so by swapping my de heads to the new engine, no need for additonal electronics, or i can just put those exhaust cam sensor plugs in on the rev up heads. am i right in thinking that the only difference between the rev up and de heads, is the increased rev limit?

option 1: convert fully to rev-up..buy a new harness and ECU for 06'...at this point its a straight motor and harness swap.
option 2: create a standard DE from your rev-up short block by mixing the two.
(a)swap over your old cams to the revup heads, plug the hole for the exhaust (outboard) cam sensors on the revup heads, swap over your DE inner and outer timing face covers, swap over the exhaust cam gear...
(b) just grab the entire head off the old DE and bolt it on to the revup shortblock and call it a day. you'll still need to transfer over the inner and outer timing face covers while you are at it.
