Default Auto Vs. Manual transmission

What are the pros and cons of a Automatic transmission. Should I mod my Z if I have a techtronic transmission. Or what are some Do's and Dont's... I like sound and performance. But I don't want to be laughed at

There is nothing wrong with the automatic. It is virtually bullet proof and just do any modifications you would do with a manual. You will be fine.

If you are not taking the FI route, should be fine with mods

Quite simply manual transmission allows you more control of the car, if you are interested in tracking your car, or want to drive how it was intended to be driven, get a manual transmission. If you don't know how to drive, get an automatic, and honestly don't bother with a sports car in that case IMO.

Not trying to be rude or anything, just hard to answer that without sounding like an *** I guess.

^^^^^^^ Totally agree, the only decent auto boxes are the semi-auto's fitted with twin clutches fitted to high end sports cars.
You are not in full control of a car in a normal auto when you are free wheeling around a corner with no engine braking. I know there's the argument about drag cars running auto boxes but to be fair they are just going in a straight line.
Auto boxes are for people who are lazy and don't know hoe to drive a stick.

Auto trans is great for drag racing and trophy wife's. If your not a serious drag racer, an AT is the same as a huge rainbow decal on your sportscar.

Disclaimer, handicapped drivers are except from the rainbow decal comment.

BTW, DSG style trans does to count as Auto.

Autos are ran for consistency, my comment was more in regards that a stock 6 my in these cars handles double what 5at does

Same here, 02 Z (yes 02) 5AT to a 6MT, a lot better though the auto box would be a lot more comfortable in rush-hour traffic and such.
Not thaaat much performance difference imo though if you know your stuff. I took both Zs to a racetrack and the difference was on average about 2 seconds. (Manual 2 seconds faster than the auto) but this could be due to my shitty manual driving

my fully bolt-on, tuned, and upgraded valve body 04 auto ran a 8.8 in the 1/8 and my 08 full bolt on and tune runs an 8.2 in the 1/8. thats a pretty big difference lol

Yes the manual does have better power. I've tracked a manual Z with zero bolt-ons and felt like i was driving my A/T Z with bolt-ons + tune. 10x more fun factor too

These threads make me want to stop going on this forum. I swear in the past 1-2 years the quality of posts have dropped on an exponential level.

Stupidest 2 threads on this forum:

Automatic vs Manual
Hardtop vs Roadster

All the automatic and roadster people just defend the crap out of those choices and the rest of us laugh at them.

An auto roadster is literally the worst Z you can ever buy.

This is a sports car...
