Default unusual oil burnin issue

I have seem to have started burning oil but not the usual way by the rings. I noticed it a week or so ago after a 4 hour drive, and I'll try and explain it as best as I can because I'm kinda baffled as why it's burning. It doesn't smoke going WOT or just ripping through the gears. So say I'm driving along just going 60mph (car warmed up and driving for a little bit)and slow down to a stop sign, blip the throttle to either go to first or just because it will puff out a cloud of smoke and smell pretty bad. After that, no more smoke until I slow back down again and take off. I have 5/16 MD spacer tp's and a k&n air filter. My car is also throwing a lean code as of a few weeks ago but I don't know if that has anything to do with it...any ideas?

Compression test? Check to see if your intake is full of oil? Catch can?

I did a compression test about 15k miles ago just to make sure everything was alright and all of my numbers were good and within reason. I have the MD spacer on there and I recall having a little bit of oil in there but not an extreme amount I guess. I also just put a new pcv valve on there a few months back for just because. I'm guessing I just have more oil than before going into my plenum, but I'm not sure. Would it be wise to take off the hose for a short period of time and just vent it to the outside and see if it still smokes or is that a bad idea?

Put in a Catch Can to see if that helps, also recheck your compression.

Puff of oil on takeoff is usually a symptom of valves, and I think they can be difficult to catch with a compression test.

What catch can would you guys recommend that's not 200$ + I know there are alot off different types and that I want a baffled one, but I haven't been able to find a definite "go to" catch can.

And do you mean valve seals? I know after sitting it'll puff out smoke right on start up because of those but this is with the car warmed up and everything.
