Unhappy Oil Pressure Sending Unit Port

So, about a month ago, I replaced my oil pressure sending unit/sensor. Well recently my oil pressure gauge says that it is low again. While trying to perform the pressure test using a manual gauge, I think I cross threaded the port.

1. Are there any other ports I can use.
2. If not, how f!!!!d am I?
3. What part will I need to order if there are no other ports.

Any other advice will be helpful, I am pretty new to working on my vehicle.

2005, 350Z, BASE.

Thank you in advance for any and all advice. I have already called myself a dumbass at least thirty times, so feel free to add on.

I dont know of other ports but perhaps leave the one thats in there and get a sandwhich adapter and screw the new unit into that. Or retap the hole but it might crack. If all else fails a new upper oil pan is next.

You can plug it, run an oil filter sandwich adapter, some of which are available with two sensor ports. Alternatively you could helicoil it but I am not sure that will seal under pressure - best to thread up to a larger size NPT using a tap and then use a fitting to downsize back to 1/8" npt. To get the shavings out you should probably drop the oil pan. You need to be very careful with aluminum threads. Hand tighten first, always.

The oil sending unit and the block is BSPT. Do not use NPT. Using an NTP adapter might be what screwed up the threads in the first place.

Theres a port above the oil filter on the front side of the block. On the newer cars its the temp sensor, on the older cars its just a plug. I've been using it as an aftermarket temp sensor port on my 04 as it seems to be the main gallery line that runs up to the heads after the filter. (works great for this)

Not sure if the oem pressure port is before or after the filter, or if theres enough of a pressure drop that it would be an issue. In either case, you'd need an adapter since the other port is much larger.

A thread insert might work with some sort of sealant, but I dont know if tapered thread inserts are even a thing. Maybe you could find a pressure sensor that has the same output as stock, but a bigger thread size that you could tap?

The oil pressure sender screws into the upper oil pan, not the engine block. Not an inexpensive part, but not too bad to remove and either replace or repair the damaged threads.
