Default Clutch Issues....

New Here!!! I have a 2006 in Pikes Peak White and my clutch finally gave out on me.. Being lazy and not having much extra time on my hands, I took it to a shop in my area that has a pretty good reputation working on multitudes of different makes and models. Before bringing the car in to them I talked to them on the phone several times to ensure that they would install the kit I was planning on purchasing. All was well, I purchased the Competition Clutch "White Bunny" full face from ConceptZPerformance.com and took the car to them and was hoping in a day or two I'd be back on the road. Now comes the issue... They installed the clutch no issues but the car absolutely refuses to engage/disengage the clutch. They told me they tried adjusting it, but nothing improved and they couldn't even back the car out of the maintenance bay. Mind you the car is old and has about 140k on the odometer, I'm owner number 8 I believe, and this is a fun daily for me. To my knowledge there are no modifications to the car and I'm at a loss. Clutches aren't very hard to do, I have done several on other front engine, RWD American cars.. So I guess after telling my life story I'm just curious if anyone else has run into issues with competition clutch or other aftermarket oem style clutches and what your fix was? Thanks in advance!

It’s the “shop’s” issue now.

Frankly, I wouldn’t trust them after this lame affair. So what’d they attempt to “adjust”?

Probably something simple like air in the slave.

Agreed. They said they tried to adjust the actual clutch pedal.. which confused me because I didn't know that was possible. I do NOT believe the pivot ball was replaced.

How can the clutch be engaged and disengaged at the same time?

Sheesh, more fodder pointing at the shop. There isn't enough adjustment in the pedal to affect anything but feel and engagement point, let alone full disengagement of the clutch. And to not recommend a $20 part when it's all apart. Tsk tsk.

***UPDATE****

I got the car back after they "adjusted" everything, car drives, but is difficult to put into gear. Almost as if the clutch doesn't fully disengage and feels like it wants to stall out in first & reverse with pedal all the way depressed. So, whenever I get some free time I'm going to tinker with it and see if I can improve anything. I appreciate all of your guys' input!!!

Sounds like a defective pressure plate, air in line or incorrect installation.
