*EDIT* 2003 350z with 83k miles
only mods are ISR resonated test pipes , ISR y-pipe and nismo intake
Im going to try and make this make sense in the best way i put it sorry in not the best at explaining (So i took pictures😁
Problems
1. Oil leaking from side of valve cover (Near dipstick)
2. When the car is FULLY warm if i am standing next to my exhaust i can hear very small and quite popping noises (Misfire ?)
3. Also when the car is FULLY warm, if i pull up to a stop sign and pull away at even half throttle SOMETIMES little puffs of whitish blue smoke come from exhaust ( Burning oil/ leaking in from somewhere ?)
I pulled all of the plugs , they all need replaced from looking worn out (Can take pictures of the plugs if needed) BUT there was no oil inside the plug holes. So again the only place there is oil is coming down the side of the engine (Shown in pictures)
It certainly wouldn't explain the exhaust smoke or misfire. Change the oil and plugs to (maybe) help with that.
Are you quite sure the wonky dipstick has always been correctly seated? I'd pony up for a new dipstick gasket before doing covers based on location. Then degrease the area and rinse with low water pressure. Check daily to find the leak source.
Im almost 100% positive its not the oil dipstick because there is still oil just outside the cover further down, do you think the smoke could be from any other gaskets leaking oil into somewhere ? I REFUSE to beileve that a 2003 with 80k miles has weak piston rings/valve seals theres no way
Could the smoke be related to my misfire ?Im buying new plugs maybe that will fix it ? Im sorry lol im in denial that my z has the same problem as a revup
*Another update*
So affer further looking around , ive discovered this (See picture )
There is oil IN 4 sparkplugs Along with oil running down the other side of the engine , i feel dumb for not taking a closer look , but this is why its smoking , this explains the misfire, i appreciate the replys .
Service records etc from last owner , its not a revup and only has 80k man theres no way it HAS to be something else lmao please dear god
Glad you potentially figured out the problem, but realize that service records simply show that the car was maintained within the requirements of the FSM, or at least close to (hopefully). It does not mean that the owner did not beat the living daylights out of it between services, run it hot, etc.
