Default Is this metal in my oil

I’ve been wondering if anyone knows what this is I mean could be sludge or metal 2003 350z 166k miles and wondering if this is anything to worry about oil is pretty new and it works great no knocking no codes and drives amazing. I’m getting a test kit soon to change the oil and get an analysis back but til then anyone knows what this is?

Hard to tell from that picture.

Rub some between your fingers and/or hold your fingers under a bright light with some oil on them to see if it sparkles or shimmers.

I did it and it feels like gritty but not really shiny or shimmery just kind of black

Do you have access to a magnet?

EDIT
IIRC The block is iron (ferrous) and the heads are aluminum (non-
ferrous).

I know I should’ve gotten one but never got around to it but should I be worried about that I mean it might just be sludge but I was just wondering what everyone else thought

Or you could drain the oil and run it through a coffee filter.
Kinda hard to give a definite answer from the pic.

Prob bad dipstick o-ring seal- gunk, dirt, debris accumulated or you just mistakenly scrapped some of it as you pushed the dipstick back in. There is ton of build up where the dipstick goes in at 166k miles. If its anything to worry about it wouldn't only be accumulated right at that spot, it wouldn't be "floating", more so spread uniformly mixed in with the oil.

Default Mr.Sparco is correct

I didn’t need a test kit but it wasn’t the i ring it was just all the build up around where the dipstick comes out and it hits the tube that goes thought the throttle body which leads it to pick up dirt and grime around it so if you see stuff like this then it is probably just dirt and grime also if you metal in your oil then it would most like be consistent which this was not so thanks for all the answers and that was it

I don't know. I can assist you if you're trying to find a website that offers french translation services but hasn't been successful. Help with your french translations is available at click here. I may use this website to translate some of my own documents because it provides good translation services.
