Your tire wear will suffer the most and likely get destroyed, but that's about it.

Unless they're rusty.

Tires don't wear as fast when they're rusty due to the high iron content from oxidation.

Ok cool. i can expect a little smartassness since im so low knowledge and paranoid about this car being okay. Im going to pull the trigger on the bilstein b12 kit. then im going to save for the best parts period and replace all control and camber arms etc. with best parts possible in 3 or 4 months. and im foreal like spl pro 2k dollar arms and all. then maybe one day ill even replace the b12 kit but ill rock it for awhile. you do sketch me out saying my tires will get actually destroyed lol. but ive got to order the suspension tonight so i can get all necessary work done this weekend or asap.

Its usually better and idk what to put on my car. all i know is in the end, i want alot of money in it. and i want it to handle like a dream mainly. Power would be super cool. but i dont like racing people or driving straight. so once my funds are right, suspension components are something ill go all out on. I cant wait to get it dialed in enough that i can have fun w it, and not use it for a point a to b car..

Now this is not happening anytime soon but i wouldnt just buy the biggest turbo kit. I prefer torque over hp really. small turbos and high boost ftw! i loved that in my evo

I just need it not to bottom out over simple bumps. some shocks are busted or something. I planned on getting b12 kit and alignment only.. Or if im going cheap on suspension now and it must be fixed should i get oem, and have all the aftermarket stuff installed at once. The downside of getting oem is i would not plan on keeping them. I could keep the bilstein b12 kit awhile
OK, stop.

You talk about Bilstein B12 kit like it's something you'll just use and toss when the alleged "better suspension" comes along. You are aware that a Bilstein/Eibach setup for street use is at the top of the scale for street use, no? So, what's better? Lemme guess, you drank the coilover koolaid.

I say that presumptively because no one here - especially me - really knows what you want. I keep asking "What am I missing here?" You keep talking about "ultimate this" or "best that" but.... FOR WHAT? Street/hills performance? Track? Or Instaswag parking lot points, what? You can't build an ultimate anything without knowing the goal and you certainly can't expect comprehensive recommendations without sharing the goal. I just went back through this gnashing my teeth because its so nebulous. Not sure where you might have mentioned it but, besides the trans, what doesn't work? Have you baseline serviced it yet - like fluids, timing and drive belts? Like, how about some real details about your expectations? Very important as well: There's no discussion on what's ALREADY on the car. Does it have sticky tires? Does it have adjustable sway bars? Does it have light weight alloys? (There's a clue in that sentence by the way.)

You're all over the map in this thread talking about loans to buy parts,,, and rent... and Tomei (which, IMO, is a totally unnecessary expense)... and rental car... and "maybe Bilstein for a while"... and so on ad nauseum. Then you go through every other different part you're considering for no other reason than you want it "ultimate" (or whatever the word was you used)... AND... then you tangent off into rust removal and get OCD about it (hence my "smartass" comment). How does anyone keep up with this?

So why don't you take a step back for all these people who are trying to help you by defining exactly what it is this "build" is intended for, how much you ultimately have budgeted for this and over what time period. You will get back an itemized list and in the order you should do all of it.

This all might sound harsh but it's partly my job here to keep threads moving along on an even keel and this thread is just going into what I call "non-categorized" and "non-directional" because there's no central focus and it's meandering all over the place.

Man theres alot to reply to there so ill keep it as short as possible. I would LOVE an itemized list! After that i should probably just let this thread die, since its in engine and drivetrain, and its only half about that. My apologies for making it all over the place, and long. I guess if later i have a suspension question or whatever i can post in that section. Actually the bilstein b12 kit isnt something i plan on tossing. oem yes, but i would ride bilstein for a year or two. I feel like shocks should be replaced after time anyways, and i may put some rough miles on the car after a year or two. I do kind of want those ohlins coilovers in far future, because i heard they're streetable..

This car may stay on the street.. Im kind of vague about the details because i want to put cameras on it and do stuff on the street in middle of night, i feel uncomfortable talking about.. I want it to really live, and may even wreck but I feel like thats what makes street so cool. You care about your car so much, and cant afford to wreck so u magically dont wreck. If i ever do dumb stuff like how i used to jump my evo at 140 on a semi-straight backroad, its in middle of night. (kids out in day and stuff). I live around perfect mountain backroads. I would love to track it someday. May have to get different dd, and hope theyre cool with me cruising up to event in car. I dont want to buy trailer and all. My ideal track would be road rally. Regardless, once i feel its dialed in, i will go hard on it. I also had coilovers in 240sx. while it was not adjusted completely correctly, it handled good, and the rough ride was a sacrifice i was willing to make. I also plan to make this a 40k dollar car or more someday, over a long period of time. I mean we probably wont hit that number for 3 or 4 years, maybe on second engine unless i get lucky w this one. Which is why i need some kind of order to this. Once i dump 15k-20k in it, i may just sit on my money and try to save for an engine build or something. For next 3 months ill prob drive like a normal person, until i get all my suspension parts.

timing and drive belts! thats a clue. I do need more basic info like that, im dumb. The car is bone stock except aftermarket intake, horrible straightpipe exhaust, that megan racing lower tie brace, and rims. Idk how lightweight the rims are i need to look it up, but they do look cool. Im rather busy, but NOTHING at all has been done to car by me. I started it twice, and moved it around the lot. I hope to have a garage in a few years and not stay here forever, but no garage for now..

I already have tomei exhaust, new trans, lightweight alum flywheel and single disc clutch. Nothing can turn me back now.. I also already have the z1 diff service kit w cover and diff fluid, trans fluid, rust removal products. I ordered bilstein b12 kit last night. The car is going in shop as soon as the b12 kit arrives. I want to start driving it, and save that car rental money. The only problems with car are maybe throttle response or power, although i need to run it harder more to tell forsure. The trans is grinding some and reverse tricky, but its okay enough to drive. And whole car sinks down over a bump, sounding like all the wheel wells, or something else scrapes. Seller told me about suspension issue and included those coil-overs im selling.

So as soon as i get the suspension im waiting for i plan on taking it to this nice shop. Theyre busy and highly rated, yet price isnt bad and they are not a performance shop. I may have them do trans too, since they drop engines and trans in on the regular. One day i may take it somewhere else, like once i get those control arms and need it dialed in perfectly. This first stop at shop i will tell them to

1. service rear diff, with the kit i have now

2. oil change/check or replace fluids. may mention power steering

3. bye bye redneck exhaust hello tomei! (sorry im used to buying overpriced exhaust.. had ceramic coated one on evo and this tomei matches my car which has been sprayed blue/almost navy blue.

4. faulty shocks and springs replaced with bilstein b12. I will get an alignment too but idk how good it will be, if i wait 3 months for adjustable arms. The b12 is ordered now.

5. Maybe other recommendations like those belts! I cant do anything extremely expensive this first run.

trans not serviced but with history of other 350zs, i figured it was going out soon, and i have a new trans. Tires on car pretty good, but one going flat, that i will have looked at. and another one has circular cuts in sidewall but holds air ok. I dont plan on getting stickier tires until i get all my control arms and stuff, and feel like i can finally drive hard/get even tire wear.

I really do appreciate all the help, and would be even more stoked for a full "over time" list. I also would love more maintenance ideas like belts, but will also tell shop to look it over good.

This has to be a troll. It has to be. Quite successful too. If it continues it may match Dugan level.

I forget which member it was, would always say, "a taste for fine wine on a cheap beer budget" (back in the days) on all the wishful wish-list threads that ended... nowhere.

How about some Cisco? Do they even still make that liquid crack? I hope not for the sake of humanity.

First drink I ever had was OE 800, back when I was a hood rat. They still drink that in the hood?

There are two rules to remember if you want to have a good time. Rule number one, never run out of Colt 45. Rule number two, never forget rule number one.
