I had the S-AFC installed yesterday and am very happy with how the Z is running now. My original intent was to just have the Z dyno'd because of a recent change of spark plugs which lead me to believe that it was running a little rich. I used to regularly experience slight smell (like burning oil) the first few times I would go WOT at any given time of the day. I don't know if that smell is directly related to running rich or not, but I can tell you that it is no longer doing it at all since the tuning with the S-AFC. I consider myself very sceptical when it comes to gains from mods on the Z, but the tuning has no doubt netted more gain than my exhaust, cold air, or timing advance. Now I also recognise the fact that the tuning has allowed for the best gains of those mods and that it is a combination of all of them.
Unfortunately the dyno only showed a 5 hp gain from the base to pull 3 and 7 hp from the base to pull 4, but it definitely feels like more than that. Today when I woke up I went for a drive and the Z doesn't even feel the same. The Z pulls up to 4000 RPMs as it always did but at 4k and above it feels undoubtably stronger. It used to really feel dead toward redline and it is much better now.
I was hoping to see higher numbers out of my Z, but was assured by the tuner that comparing my numbers to others was by no means an accurate way of judging the power of my Z. He told me that the variables and equipment used could drastically change the outcome of my numbers and that I could go around from shop to shop and eventually get the numbers I want to see. Actually all the guys at the shop were fantastic. I felt a little language barrier at first but we were able to work through that with little complications. I guess MORE POWER is understood by all.

Thank you for you post and this is good news for me. I've been wanting to purchase the unit but sceptical of the knocking sensor functionality being compatible with our Z. Were you able to get the knocking sensor operational?
Your A/F ratio looks nice and steady. 13.8 is good for NA. I was around 13.5 at 6600 rpms. 13.8 from 3000-5500 rpms. Tuned with xede. Picked up about 10 ft lbs throughout entire rpm range.

hey, I see you're in Victoria, did you get it tuned there? I'm just down hwy 59 in El Campo, and I've been driving into Houston to dyno, it would be nice if I could just go to Victoria to have that done (I'm also looking into the S-AFC II or E-manage to squeeze a few more ponies out of my car) - please PM me with some details...

Just looked at your dyno....Didn't know ppl from San Antonio drove to Houston to dyno at Carboy. I've been a customer there since 1994...of course back then, they were at 59 & Bellaire. Now they're on Bisonnet. Jackie worked on my accord, teg, civic, and now the Z. Dayam I feel old. lol. Hit me up next time you plan to come down. Wouldn't mind meeting a fellow board member and checkin out your Z.
