Homemade Catch Can

Just wanting to clarify that I'm heading in the right direction with my catch can install on my Vortech:
Option 1:
Passenger PCV to Catch Can / Catch Can to Suction side of Vortech
Dr PCV to Breather Filter
Option 2:
Passenger PCV & Driver PCV to T-Fitting, T-Fitting To Catch Can / Catch Can to suction side of Vortech.
Option 1 would make for a much cleaner install... Not sure what to do..

I'm interested in doing a double filter setup to prevent crank vapors from entering my intake and to promote cleaner air in the engine.
Doesn't the PCV need suction to vent the gasses out of the crankcase? Doesn't the increased pressure needed to push the vapors through the filter potentially harm the crankcase/engine?
What's the word on your setup? I'm very interested to see if your engine is still in good health.
Well its a new set up on my car and has evolved over the process of this thread.. From what I can gather from prior info that the majority of the motor vents through the pvc valve (passenger side) and that there is very little oil or oil vapor lost from the drivers side. Now as I have said this is a new set up and I will be watching it close if it turns out to be a flop then I will post it up. Now did it help ,humm not sure ,did it hurt ,not sure ...... But if You or anyone knows something I have missed then please by all means set me right, cuz nobody wants a busted ride ...correct

did this mod yesterday! appears to be catching oil! thanks for the write-up
Any user experience longevity issues with the clear plastic? mine is slightly closer to the engine than some of the pictured installs in this thread.

I recently replaced my valve cover gasket. While I was at it, I noticed my plenum had more oil in it than I would like. I decided it was time for a catch can, so I went ahead with this thread. I added a 1 1/4 metal hole strap, and bolted it to the power steering bracket. I might grab a 90 degree brass fitting to make it a bit straighter of a run though.

I finally completed my home made catch can...
I noticed quite a few members have used regular hose but I opted to use the clear braided hose so I can easily gauge the effectiveness of the catch can. It seemed quite natural to mount the catch can on the power steering reservoir bracket. Right now I have a few zip ties holding it on till I find an adequate and clean solution to permanently affix the can to the bracket.
I just noticed woody03 used the 1 1/4" strap, I'll have to give that a try.

So I've been contemplating this all day (slow day at work) I want to see if I can make one out of aluminum that we have laying around and practice my welding/shop skills. Is this basically all that there is to it? not sure if the picture will post but if it doesn't: Cylindrical can with a drain at the bottom, Some sort of baffling to condensate the oil, dirty air inlet and then a clean(er) air outlet on top? right now I was planning on having the inlet closer to the bottom, a little more than halfway down and the Outlet (going to the plenum) on top in the middle. I was also planning on having a removable top with self tappers and some sort of seal so i can change out the baffling if needed. It seems right to me but it just seems too easy to be true. I would do the plastic filter but I honestly just want to point to it and say " yeah, i made that".

I know this is an old thread but i've been reading about catch cans recently and was wondering, did any of you guys put some sort of baffle inside the container? Steel wool, scotch brite, loofahs seem to be popular options.
I've had mine in for a while now and it does catch some oil, was just wondering if putting in a baffle would make it work better?

Is there like an updated DIY for this with pics? I'm installing a kinetix v+ tommorow and I'm already scared of the puddles of oil I'm gonna see in my plenum after opening it for the first time in 140,000 miles...

Check the pics above home boy, and there's better pics on pg 3. Just get the hose and follow that^ vacuum line. That's where you put the can, with the arrows going to the intake mani.ill send you a pm of one on a g35

the hose to be concerned with is right next to the first spark plug on the passangers side. just follow it up to the front of the intake manifold. see attached pics. i have a different intake manifold, but it shows you where the hose is at on the valve cover and just follow it up. sorry for the dusty cellphone pics!
