thought I'd throw up a picture of my catch can to add to the different methods. I used the stock hose turned up, and then used another section of hose to go down to the pvc. I also left in the filter element, because that is what lets he oil vapors condense and drip down...
doesn't have too much oil in it so far, maybe 1/4 inch after 100 miles, but its better than burning that much. I am thinking about taking off the top of the plenum to clean it out too...

well neither are necessary but both help... your drivers side gets oil in the system as well and takes it to your intake or charge side, it's usually not as much oil though... if you don't want a catch can on the drivers side you can also put a breather filter on the drivers side....
I assume it has a 5/8" diameter tube out of the bottom so it fits in the tubing that comes out of the valve cover... right? I'm doing this in a G, so my plumbing might be a bit different.

And as for the eBay catch Cans I think they're just as good as the home depot style, neither have really anything in them to help condense the oil vapor, they both kinda just let the air pass threw and let the oil vapor condense itself inside the can. The only thing is the eBay style is a lil bulky so it might be hard to find some room in the engine bay...

short answer no... your motor will still be doing its job with pressure, with no obstruction of flow...
did you cap the hole on the intake pipe off? you shouldn't get a SES.., from a breather filter. If your catch can was leaking than you have a vacuum leak, which could cause your SES.... what code was it?
so the oil doesn't soak up into the filer and leak all over the motor and your driveway... so to catch as much as you can before the filter

Well its a new set up on my car and has evolved over the process of this thread.. From what I can gather from prior info that the majority of the motor vents through the pvc valve (passenger side) and that there is very little oil or oil vapor lost from the drivers side. Now as I have said this is a new set up and I will be watching it close if it turns out to be a flop then I will post it up. Now did it help ,humm not sure ,did it hurt ,not sure ...... But if You or anyone knows something I have missed then please by all means set me right, cuz nobody wants a busted ride ...correct

Do you sell off the shelf catch cans?
clamps = 89c need 2
brass barbs = 2.89 need 2
The catch can aka filter = 12.xx
Teflon tape = already have but maybe 2 bucks?
Hose = doesn't count since you need it with any catch can you buy.
Based on my home schooled math, you're right, it's much cheaper to spend $100.00 on a off the chelf catch can.

oh, if you're talking homemade cheap stuff, well yeah, u can do it with a soda can if you want and that would save the $12 filter you mentioned.
Weapon-R CC cost $40.. and that's off the shelf.

Where are all these oils going if there wasn't a catch can to catch them? And if it goes into the engine, is there a way to clean the oil off the engine if I dont want to install a catch can?
