Nearly all the fuel is being bypassed at the regulator is flowing thru the regulator and thru the internal passages in the pump for the venturi systems.

the first step is to open up the regulator outlet so that the regulator is capable of handling the greater flow.

the next step is to open up the swirl jet to relieve pressure in the internal passage ways so that the regulator can do its job.

there is nothing bad about doing these procedures. The thing that you are not supposed to do is drill holes in the canister, which i doubt anyone tells anyone to do anymore.
My installer called to tell me that your mod worked to drop the fuel pressure. Thanks for sharing your knowledge

Heads up for those looking for the .070 drill bit. its more commonly refered to a #50 bit. It is usually sold at hobby shops.
Cheers!

Now that I read this I realized this is why I have a somewhat "lumpy" idle. I don't think I ever drilled the above parts out.

I had to change my fuel assembly so glad these instructions were available. Did everything fine car started up and everything went fine until after a week. For some reason it doesn't sound like my fuel pump is turning on and the car just cranks not turning over. Usually I hear the sound of the fuel pump is there some type of fuse for this?

Haven't ran it dry, what's cavitated? I pulled the pump out and at first glance everything looks fine just found chunks of rubber or something inside the assembly. Not sure if that would affect the pump since wouldn't the filter catch that? When I first reinstalled this assembly I forgot to plug in the fuel pump all the way it ran then didn't start. After plugged back in all the way it drove up to the current state of pump not turning on at all. Do you think the pump could of shorted when it wasn't plugged in all the way?

the fact that you are installing a walbro requires that you follow the procedure... regardless of any other modifications to the car

Hey phunk,

So I was asking questions before about going back to stock with the Walbro pump. Am I right in saying that the fuel pressure remains around the same as stock, so that I should be able to disconnect my UTEC and toss my stock injectors in, and everything will still run fine? Or will I need to swap the pump/basket with someone's stock one? I will end up swapping the basket with the person who is buying my STS kit, but that won't be for a while and I'd like to get this thing running.

Thanks,

- Jon
