I'm not 100% but the corvette (mine) has a different position sensor than the GTO. Yet another reason to buy a GTO LS2, oh the shame

How are people running their cooling fans? I have mine still wired through the Nissan ECM and they just run all the time as soon as the ignition is on.

Mine run off of the stock GM ECU and a relay that has the 12v+ leading to the fans.

Went today and checked out this motor a guy in my area posted on craiglist

Says its a LS1 with about 500 miles on it and came out of a 2003 corvette, Im a noob to this **** in case its not obvious but i snapped these pics today and wanted to get input on whether yall believe its worth the 1800 he's asking for it

From what i can see its missing the intake and exhaust manifolds and the belts but other than that im not 100% on what im looking at or looking for

Thanks in advance

It is also missing the oil pressure sensor and knock sensors. Some of the holes looked gummed up.

Definitely out of a late model c5 vette from what the oil pan looks like. LS6 block based on casting number (1251168), 241 LS1 heads, late model ls6 pcv valley cover.

The engine over all looks very clean. I dont know how you are looking at a 500 mile 9 year old motor, but looks pretty clean. I would go 1500 for the long block complete if you can get him down that low.

Also missing the coil packs, throttle body. No big deal if you are considering running a FAST setup and aftermarket TB.

Franz figured out how to control mine like stock, at a certain temp they turn on (possibly one at a time) and cycle as needed by the car to maintain max/min operating temps.

It was 82*F this past weekend and the car took a beating and had zero issues.

Mine runs off of the stock GM ecu with a relay triggers the fans to kick on at whatever temp is set at in the ECU by HP tuners which is 190 deg right now

I don't believe my harness has anything for fans. Yet again foiled by not using the Chase Bays harness.

No GM ecu for me. I believe he figured out how to use the Nisaan ECU to control them, not the ViPEC, but I may be mistaken.

I am sure this is one of the special things that he would hope to be paid to do for others. I know there is at least one other member that is basically repicating my setup, but with a built LS2 that will put down some serious HP NA.

Just depends on how it is wired if you use the stock VQ ECU and its just being used as a CAN pass through then you need to use the stock nissan one on the LSX motor and have the stock chassis wiring for the fans plugged up.

If using the GM ecu and not a stand alone it will just use the stock GM ECU go to a relay that is controlled by the ECU then 12+ to the fans once the desired temp is reached.

Okay so in theory I could just run the +12V signal wire to the Nissan relays to energize them since I have the fans all wired in through the Nissan harness?

Correct as long as you have the nissan sensor in one of the ports on the heads and the ECU sees that signal then you are good to go.

^logan, does your coolant gauge work with your harness? justin was telling me that once he removes the nissan ecu from the harness then i have to buy a coolant gauge because it wont read. this doesnt make sense, but then it does. fill me in por favor.
