^ LOL!

I was thinking the same thing. The last thing to bring up is the price of something back in early 2005, we are almost in '09.

mehh.. I figure if i want a fire extinguisher to hang down from a 1 inch diameter pole (harness bar) i would fab something up using the following:

MOUNT:
MINOURA CAGE FITTINGS:
QB-90 QUICK RELEASE MULTI CAGE MOUNT
Single water bottle cage holder with quick release mechanism.
Allows immediate installation/removal and can be mounted on the handlebar or seatpost with a simple twist of the bracket direction.
Rustproof ED paint finish.
Fits 22m and 25mm diameter.
Weight: 80 grams.
RRP: $19.95

PICS:
1.jpg = HAS A QUICK RELEASE - 22-25mm diameter.
2.jpg = is adjustable.
3.jpg = will orient the bottle facing forward...that might look cool/different!

I would then get a strip of Aluminum. local hardware store...about 1/8 thick, 1inch wide, about a 6 inch long piece and mount it to one of the mounts above.

Then mount the fire extinguisher cage that came with the fire extinguisher i purchased to the aluminum strip. or buy Amerex straps like the last pic..(i like the double latch one)

Paint it all black...or chem strip it and polish it.....eeehh??

but knowing me, i would probably just machine some clamp style mounts out of solid aluminum....

unless you have a strict racing car.

You dont need a strict racing car to need a fire extinguisher at close range......

i track my car quite a bit......and i have seen small fires break out on course.....

DFW SCCA events always hire a guy that comes out with fire extinguishers.....but i rather have one in the car rather than across the course....

a 15 sec shot from one of these puppies keeps the fire from going up.......

sometimes the fires start cause they hit a pole.....in drifting, they tandem and hit each other........but most of the time its due to poor electrical......ive seen 240sx go up in flames cause of poor electrical in the wire harness due to shade tree mechanic SR20 swaps......and ive seen fires start cause some guys have 8 guage wire going to amps with no fuse and it all comes loose while they are drifting......dumb stuff......lol..

halon deprives the area of oxygen, so be careful... if you need to use, you should be out of the car. we use that specifically for Jet fuel. its great and doesn't harm anything at all really but taking oxygen out of the area. so as long as you got out of an enclosed cockpit in your car to use you have nothing to worry about and be assure that it will do its job. and for color go red or green for noticing and safety,. not chrome... the red and green are automatic atention and psycologically a atractive color in an emergency

Actually.... Halon is prohibited from use due to the ozone layer being depleted. Halotoron is now in use replacing halon.
