350z getting projector HID?? See link....
Hey guys,
I see this on ebay. Looks very clean to me so it doesn't look like a retrofit. Anyone know if Nissan is making a projector for our cars. I am dying to find/make a projector HID.

the seller is either clueless or is trying to scam someone.

There are a couple contacts I have through other boards that will do retrofits. heck, if you want, throw up a post at http://hidplanet.com/forums/index.php and there are probably a dozen people that can help you out. I had a retros done on my R/T stratus from HIDTECH.com - people were having mixed reviews of their work, but mine turned out pretty decent, but were expensive. These are bi-xenon projectors out of an audi A6 (movable shields)
if I were doing a retro into the 350z I would retro in some valeo projectors

y would you want a projector anyway? It's not going to make your headlight output any better.

Not the light output, but they will have a better spectrum, better cut-off with more color in the cut-off, have better flicker, and IMO, the headlight assembly iteself will look better.

I just helped my friend to install a HID OEM projector headlight assembly + ballast (made by a Japaness company -Apollo) on his 03 Civic SIR. The bulb is 4500k(same color temperature as most stock). After we finished the installation, we did a side by side comparison. I've gotta admit that the light pattern, cut-off line, intensity, and light patter width are much better than our reflector headlight. Honda did a really good job on their projector design.
I have been trying to look for a projector headlight for a while and since no one is making them, I am thinking of making one myself. Just now, still getting an optical group to help me to do some preliminary layout.

The cutoff on our cars were better than what i expected. Before i picked up my Z..i thought they sucked! I just wish nissan would had used a full projector headlight instead of our hybrid ones.

I posted a reply on HIDplanet. Doesn't look like a 350z headlight.
The light output on projectors isn't always better, but in general projectors have a greater efficiency than reflectors in getting the light to the ground.
I've done a retrofit of Audi A4 projectors into my Acura Legend 1-piece headlights, the output was great. The G35 stock HIDs aren't all that, and with projectors it's a much wider beam along with the nice cutoff.

Butchering an already good headlamp assembly to get projectors, when the 350Z already has projectors, isnt really a wise idea. There is no performance increase. We've done light output tests and comparison tests between various headlamps, and its safe to say that the 350Z headlamps are very high quality, as are the G35 HID-spec headlamps.

I'm confused too! The seller states this is an 04/05 Nissan Murano headlight...no mistake there from the auction. It looks like a neato idea to have headlights like those for our cars. However, I don't trust buying aftermarket units for my car.
