Default foglights? yay or nay.

I got a set of PIAA 1900x fog lights that I kept off my last car. they are sweet as hell and have much the same color as the HIDs.

but I dont know where to put them. I was thinking of behind the grill and let them shine through, but I donno... Im not sure theres anything back there to even mount them too.

anyone installed foglights into it yet?

and yeah Im aware they arent needed with HID, but I have them just lieing around. so cant hurt to consider it.

Why not sell them on eBay? Then you could take the proceeds and buy the clear side finisher, or a new shifter or something.

Thumbs down NAY !

You don't need them, where would you put them, it would ruin the look of the car.

Sell 'em and get another toy!

Default foglights? yay

Yay...go for it.

I'm looking into mounting some fog lights in the grill area. The outer portions that are already blanked off should be an ideal location. Too bad the grill itself is molded with the whole nose. While I was washing my Z a few days ago, I noticed that the flat panels were loose......held in with snap-clips? I gotta get some low ramps and check out a solid mounting point. I don't trust sticky mounting tape.....

I want to see a 350Z with fog lights installed myself. Just wondering how it will look like. If you guys have any pics of your 350Z with fog lights installed plz post them here so everyone can take a look at them. I was thinking maybe a small round type of fog lights so it wont be too intrusive.

I installed PIAA 2100 Extreme white and this is my report:

1. If you are choosing quality brands it is impossible to adequately install without cutting parts of the grill off.
2. They absolutely complement HID in foggy conditions. Fog lights have a much wider and diffused light pattern which helps “cut” through the fog. As is usually the case you see better with fog lights only in heavy fog conditions.
3. The light color of the 2100s is identical to the HID.
4. I found the placement options very restrictive as there is very little metal around the grill to properly attach the lights.
5. The end result (anticipated) is that I will have a custom grill made and install (working on the design type and material option). This is partly because I also installed an Escort SRX anti RADAR and Laser device. My ultimate goal is to keep everything except the lights “private” without affecting airflow and to improve the overall look. I will patiently look for a cost effective solution, but for now I have eliminated all the loosed ends from the grill, and it does not look that bad, IMO.

But if you absolutely must, little round ones would look better.

And could you turn them off until they are actually needed? Thanks.

Do you have better pix of your car from the front showing the fog lights, than the one posted in the SD Run thread?? I'm interested in seeing how they look from the front.

Agree

I have started looking for appropriate fog lamps and install location.

I am leaning towards small round ones as well.

I used to have this g-friend. Not a ***** in ANY way...but whenever she had someone behind her with Xenon AND HID fog lights, she would flip them off without even thinking. Her reasoning was that that is an unconsiderate thing to do to anyone infront of you.

something to think about

well they were doing it wrong, sounds like your standard ricer fogs where they think fogs should point straight up at oncoming drivers, so they can show them off(you know fog lights have no actual purpose)

of course they would have their own switch as well... again we return to my car computer system that I want so I could use the touchscreen to turn lights on and off. but since that doesnt exist, I suppose I would use a rocker panel like I did in my last car with them.

we shall see, they would be low to the ground, and aimed down so they can cut through the fog which is a problem in GA. but then again, supposedly HID are better for fog then even foglights.

who knows what I will do. might be a bigger pain to install then they are worth.

I want to get a rocker switch installed in the space beside the heated seat switches in my Touring to control the lights.
