Sorry everyone but just opened the company account today..can't take PayPal or credit cards yet..I'am hoping two major Internet Z parts suppliers will jump on the band wagon..if they do there will be more options..thanks for understanding.. also I just want to make a few things clear about the bracket..I may have mentioned this before but it bears repeating..

The bracket installs by drilling two holes in the grill in front of the tow hook..your license plate and frame attach to the bracket..the assembly must be removed to use the tow hook so I suggest keeping a small tool pouch handy for emergencies

All in All..it still beats having holes in your bumper

Would you please post pics of the drilling and the bracket w/o the plate and frame?
Thanks.

I agree...I need to see the bracket and especially the holes which must be drilled in the grill. I'm glad this was brought up...if it had been stated prior, I missed it. I presumed all along this bracket used the threaded tow hook hole and am less stoked about this product now that I know I must deface my Z. I was ready to place an order, but now need more pictures/info. to proceed.

Thanks

Pat,

What would the final cost be if you shipped the bracket 3 Day Select to Canada? My Z should be rolling in this week, and I have a feeling the dealer would prefer the bracket to zip ties. Thanks.

I'll have to remove the bracket again to take pics of the holes..when you remove the bracket you would have to get on your knees to see the holes..we're talking two 15/64" holes in the plastic grill one on either side of the tow hook..I've been asked before to post design pics..not comfortable with that sorry..all of the folks at the Mega Orange County meet today got a good look..ask around for their impressions

Your bracket holder seems to be very similar to this:

https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....&threadid=6431

Is that where you have to be drilling the holes (referring to what BILZ Z has posted in that thread)?

Well...no offense AudioPat, but if I have to drill holes in my baby and can't even see the hardware you propose we buy...well, I'll save the $30+ and just do it myself. Few people get excited about buying products "sight unseen". If I can't find a way to utilize the tow hole with less than $10 in hardware I'd be surprised and if I were to want to drill holes I don't think I'd need your product at all....I could do what others have done and mount the plate directly to the grill. I'm all for free market and such, but for me I have lost the excitement for this product. Besides, after I have it handled I can tell my wife I saved $20+ and justify some new shoes or something...HA.

If I removed my bracket and took pictures it would look just like that..Thanks Gendo for saving me the trouble

All I can tell you is that the bracket I have developed is very lightweight and very sturdy..the plate will not come in contact with the bumper and ruin your paint..even at 100+mph..not that I have tested this because that would be against the law

BTW..most of us who pre-ordered bought our $30K+ cars sight unseen

And no offense taken..everyone here is entitled to their opinion

Not to belabor the point...I guess I must have been one of the only preorders that knew what the Z looked like before putting down money? I hadn't touched one...or seen it in person, but saw hundreds of pictures! I don't remember when I first knew of the new Z...but is it true that those of you that preordered early in the year didn't even know what the prototype looked like? Damn...that floors me!

I would think that the tow-hook mount option would vibrate loose over time.

There were other considerations as well that led me away from the tow hook idea. It was actually my first thought but after researching the idea in detail I went another way.

One more point...it's true that anyone can do what I did and devise a way to mount the front plate. You can draw it out, pick up parts at the hardware store, cut & drill them, hope they fit and look decent...or...you can take advantage of the fact that I've done all that.

Like, Driven, I don't understand why you won't post a picture of what you are selling.
Initially, you said it was for legal reasons. Now that you have a patent pending, that should no longer be an issue.

Yes; but, what about a picture of the product/item you are selling.

just because Pat has a patent pending, doesnt mean anyone wouldn't try to copy it, and it would be a pain to pursue legal action.

That being said, I'm sure someone will post pics once they take delivery of it.
