Default Finally..Front Plate Bracket Prototype

After waiting patiently for two months for a friend to get something done I gave up and did it myself in a day...Here is the first prototype. It is a bit crooked. I tried to rush it through and wasn't as carefull as I should have been. Made all the holes by hand and didn't line things up perfectly...a first prototype remember...I want to run it on the car for a week and see if there are any problems...what do you think

Way off topic, but I really prefer the new three dot Z logo of the 350 over this older Z logo.

to be perfectly honest..I put on the old Z logo because I couldn't find my other plate...I have it now and when I straighten things up tomorrow I'll put it on..no doubt about it..I am getting senile in my old age

BTW...didn't think it needed the '?' Thought most folks would get the idea...by the smiles I see in the rear view when they read the bracket I think they do

Can't post pics of the construction yet..legal stuff to take care of..brought it over to show my dealer and the sales and service guys were very impressed..so far no rattles..very secure..no difference noticed with my temp guage at highway speeds..I will see how it holds up over the next week...glad you like it...think it's a much better alternative to mounting on the bumper

Very similar to what I did on my wife's car a few weeks back (but your's looks much more professional ).

For a temporary fix, I drilled two holes on each side of the plate (about 1/2 inch apart) and attached the plat to the grill with zip ties. It actually looks pretty good. The main difference between it and your method is that there is no frame on mine and the plate conforms to the shape of the grill (slightly bent back). I haven't noticed any temp. difference either, but the real test will be in very hot weather.

Nice job. Looks like you might have a marketable product.

AdioPat,

ignore me and my reply to your old thread now that I found this thread! I think you plate looks great, now that you straightened out! But you've convinced me, I'going to the dealer tomorrow to start reminding them not to drill the holes. Iv'e heard, I'll only get hassel'ed in DC, and then I can set the other plate on the dash to avoid problems.... Wel'' see.

My other car is an FLHRCI

Ride safe Wags...my other car is a 2001 Ultra..heading to Milwaukee this summer for the 100 Anniversary bash...my wife & I went to the 95th too

I designed the bracket mainly for those states that are really hard nosed about running the front plate...it just looks so much better than drilling holes in the bumper

It will go into pruduction this week

Hi Pat, count me in..been pulled over 3 times for no front plate..no ticket yet. Was reprimanded for the plate on the dash. I was told to remove it because it was a "flying missle " in an accident. The officer told me he saw a deep cut in someones neck after an accident, they almost bled to death...the loose plate went flying. He told me to put it in the glove box for now. I told him the bracket was backordered because it was a new car. He bought it. The fool. Marcy

Awesome!

I was thinking about something like this prior to delivery of my car. But then, of course, my dealer drilled the damn holes and put the bracket on even though I told him not to...but o well. If I like it enough I will get it and have my dealer fix the holes.
