Default Problem w/ hatch since nismo spoiler install

I got a JDM Nismo spoiler for Christmas from my wife. I was totally surprised. She ordered it form Performance Nissan. Anyway,it has since been painted and installed. Since the install, my Hatch won't pop open like it used to. I have to "pop" it with the remote 2 or 3 times before it releases. It seems to be the weight of the spoiler. A couple of other guys have looked at it and agree. Is there anyway to adjust the tension on the release? Does anyone else experience this problem? Thanks for the help.

Beneath the lid of the hatch there is a weighted plate. Remove it after you install the spoiler and it'll help a little.

Did you remove the rear hatch weight?

it is under the plastic finisher... It weights about 12lbs...

If that doesnt work you need the stronger rear hatch shocks...

So if you pop the hatch and take off the plastic covering there will be a plastic finisher in there that unbolts or something? 12 lbs is kinda heavy, what is the reason for it? I have been experiencing the same problems with the cold weather and having to pop the hatch multiple times to open it.

Anyone have a picture of that plate. I opened mine up and I didn't see it. So, if someone has a picture I can make sure. If there is 12lbs in there I want to get rid of it.

I took off the wiper and motor. When I did that I looked for the plate and didn't see it.

I have the same problem and I don't have an aftermarket spoiler, . I'm taking my weight out soon, but I thought it only weighed 4 or 5 pounds?

I just went and looked, there is no screws or anything on the panel. Is it just those fast clips or something? How do you get the panel off without messing it up?

Just checked for mine. The only thing there is four presserts for mounting it.
I guess someone took it out when I bought my car and ordered my OEM spoiler in preperation for the install. I wish they would have given me the part. However, I don't see that I will ever have a use for it.

Thanks for the information..... No wonder I couldn't locate it before. That's because it wasn't there.

I have a G35 wing on there with the factory deck shocks and it keeps the hatchback up nicely.

can also try the $.03 solution in the hatch springs, but even after removing the wt and adding the 3 pennies, i still have to use my other hand to open the hatch in cold weather, ever since i installed my g wing.
