how do you hardwire something to the rear cig lighter unit? do you unscrew the cig lighter unit and hardwire is straight to that?

 

or is it better to do this to the fuse box?

 

depends on what your trying to power up. ya you can solder some small led's. but any thing more i would go through the fuse panel with a toggle switch. also, the cig lighter only works with the key in the ignition and turned.

 

+1.. Anything more than a Few amps and you are risking problems... You'r not trying to hook up an amp are you?
