clear sidemarker w/ led install with pics
hey guys, this is a follow up from skidazzle's diy led sidemarkers.
first, you must remove the tire and the wheel fender protector. i only had 1 jack so i had to do them 1 by 1, and the driver side is much easier than the passenger side. The fender piece is really easy to remove, and all you have to remove is the front half. There are 5 hex bolts on the under side, 3 plastic screws on the edge that you have to remove and couple plast pop in bolts. The fender protector is made of plastic, and its flexible, don't be afraid to bend them.

next, remove the orange sidemarkers with 2 screws.
this is a pic of the area after the fender has been removed, notice the head light area is also exposed. the black circle is where the sidemarker located.

i got the tap in piece from radio shock it works for wires from 14-20 gauges. about 2.50 fro 10 of them. tap in the positive to the green/white wire. for the ground you have 2 options, you can tap in the black wire, which is what i did, or you can connect the negative end to the chassis.

for the passenger side, its much harder. you have 2 options, 1 is to remove the bumper completely. or you can losen up most of the screws on the passenger side bumper, and access the sidemarker from under side. There is a bumper removal diy on the forum written by skidazzle, so i'm not going to post pics.
The wire connection is the same for both side. The job took me about 3-4 hours, and i had no experience on this at all prior to today.
last, i like to thank skidazzle for his well written diy on the making of the sidemarker with leds.
