Default Whose not running factory splash gards? Damage?

Was thinking of taking my mud gard things off that came on the car but wanted to know two things from those who have:

1) Any paint shade difference from them being on? I wouldnt think so but just curious
2) Have you incurred a substantial amount of chips/damage due to not having them on?

Thanks

1)I can tell you that there wasn't a paint shade difference.

2)I have GReddy sides now and haven't noticed any chips or damage without them.

I removed mine. The paint color hadn't changed, but there was a very faint outline where the original splash guards were. After polishing, the line pretty much went away, except there was a small nick I guess from when the splash guard rubbed hard against the bumper.

After taking them off, you get some rock chips, but it's in the wheel well area.

Um...why take them off? Does it look better w/o them or something?

After driving through a puddle, look at the side of the car. You will see water on the side, and a dry area protected by the splash guard. The guard prevents damage from road debris: rocks and sand.

Yep. Exactly my experience. Removed them and the guard silouette remained. Have not been able to remove it, though. Also a little paint difference. My car is white, and the guard area was a bit yellowish. Rock chips have not been a problem for me after removal but I'm pretty sure they help.

Looks wise, I think the front one looks good. I removed it because I broke it in a curb. The back one I think does not help the design of the car and looks squarely. Does not interact too well with the round shape of the back fascia near the wheels. If you have really fat wheels, my guess is you'll be fine. But with the OEM Potenzas, definately looks wrong.
