Default Hood Scoop?

Im been toying with the idea, but not sure if i really want to do it.
I have part of a left over hood crawl from another project and i just laided it on my hood to see.

If i do this, it would be fuctional. To let cool air in when driving and hot air out while idle.

Comments Welcome

I believe that could work, it's small/subtle, does'nt jump out at you. As long as it's painted white.

I will have to shorten it up a little on the sides and then paint it PPW. It will have a black grill and have a cut out in the hood.

As long as you paint it. Nice and subtle. I like the idea.

I'm sorry... I'm not a big fan. It looks like a Celica and it doesn't server a purpose. If you like it, then def go for it.

You may disagree but if u were to reverse it and have the opening towards the windshield u would create a vacuum that would pull air from the front over the engine---That way u would have more function and more of a streamlined look,

YEs if you do it right it will be unike..you need to cut out your stock hood though to let air flow... put a nice black painted grill...but paint the scoop white to match the hood...

I liked that on the celicas(used to own one) so i say GO FOR IT!

ACtually make it a lil longer.. like 2" more...Maybe even go crazier and get like custom vents ont eh side of the hood too!

I voted before I read the thread, as I'm guessing a lot of people did.... I actually think it would look great. DO it.

For the love of all that is holy, DON'T DO IT. I figured just voting "No, don't do it" was enough, but apparently from the above post, you have to write something here to make your vote matter. And yes, I read the whole thread before I voted.

hahah good point...doesn't matter how wholy it is..its ultimantly up to him... i have seen many attemps at scoops and some have failed horrendously but from teh pics he posted this has a nice chance... I still think teh coop shoudl be slightly longer... by slightly i mean 1 to 2" more...

I voted no but if you turn it around to face the windshield then it may have possibilities.

I do have a long one of those hood cawl about 24" longer.
I dont know yet, at lunch yesterday i staired at my car, and everytime im feeling the same, of not putting it on. I feel like it takes away from the look im going for. So for now, this idea is OFF my project list.

But i will be making my own custom wing/spoiler, that will flow with the car

I don't see the functionality of it the way you have it. There is no reason that you would need incoming air to enter way at the back of the hood. Reversing the vent as mentioned above would be much more effective.
