Default Broken Cup holder on passenger side

For no apparent reason, the cup holder on the passgener side - the one that comes out from the console - gets stuck every time I push it back in. I can get it out by prying, but of course I don't want to do this! I can't see what it's catching on... Does anyone else have this problem?

I welcome any suggestions for what to look for or possible fixes!

I used to use mine every day, but one day a couple weeks ago, it got stuck and won't come out. I haven't had the time to look into this. I hope someone has a quick fix. Just wanted to let you know, you are not alone!

Mine got a tiny bit of soda on it and suddenly decided to be very finicky, sticking closed most of the time. I took it out of the dash and cleaned it out very thoroughly, put it back in and it works perfectly.

Me too, I'm thinking it's because the stupid thing is a pretty snug fit and when you put drinks in there, the condensation causes the locking mechanism to get stuck. Damn engineers...

Mine has gotten jammed twice already. I take it to the dealer and they're able to fix it but when I asked them what was wrong with it, all they can reply is that it was stuck. Well no ****! Just take it to the dealer and your problems should be resolved.... until the next time it happens.

If you pull it out and slip a very thin screwdriver straight in on the top center, u will reliese it and it will pull out as a unit. Inspect it. There is a spring loaded latch that breaks and will cause u to be cup holderless
