I'm assuming you're starting with no wing at all. No, they don't use the same holes. The OEM lip spoiler uses four holes accross the back edge of the deck. The Nismo uses the outer two of these, plus 4 or 5 more drilled higher up on the deck to secure the larger base. You want to be sure of what you want before you permanently install it.

Yeah and it barely covers the prexisting holes. I like mine. It took a second for it to grow on me but now and very happy with it.

Question Installing wing and then taking it off..

how hard is it to fill in the holes if you put on a nismo wing and not like it and have to take it off?? How much price wise also??

I don't think it'd be that difficult, but you might wanna take it to a body shop, to get an accurate estimate. They can also give you details on the process. That's what I'd do, anyway. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

If I may ask, why don't you like the Nismo wing? I'm thinking of getting one for my 06.

in that time, use a crapload of 3M double sided tape. The stuff is strong, and some lip spoilers are put on with it. I would think that if you line the entire bottom of the wing, it would stay put under light driving conditions really well (don't be pushing 100+). Keep it like that for a week or so, see how you like it, then go bite the bullet and put some holes in your hatch.

Please don't do this. This is an EXTREME hazard to other drivers who might be behind you when (not if) it flies off the car.

Other than that I believe there is a correct area to post this, thats why the previous one was moved. (i.e. body, paint, exterior) And you're more likely to get a better and more accurate response.

Expect to pay a very good amount to have the holes filled-in. Even if the painter is able to spot paint them (I doubt he'll be able to), there is no such thing has spot clearcoating; the entire hatch will have to be cc'd regardless. Add to that the cost of steel reinforcements+welding+filler for each hole and you will be out a good chunk of change just to get rid of it.

That is why adults make responsible decisions and then stick with the consequences. Either get the wing or don't.

I was very nervous when I put mine on. I had the OEM lip spoiler and liked the look of the car very much, but have always loved the JDM Nismo wing. I finally bit the bullet and did it and am glad I did. I wasn't too sure at first, but the more I got the car out and looked at it and took it out for a photoshoot, I fell in love with it. I'll see if I can put up some pics of my car before and after from similar angles.

Correct. There is no such thing as "spot clear coating". However there is a commonly used method for touching up that doesn't require the whole hatch being redone and its called air-brushing, which I believe is what he was referring too.

Trying to knock some sense into you since paying more to get the holes plugged than the cost of the spoiler itself can only result from the childish jubilation of "I should get it!" followed by the incessant "Aww...I really shouldn't have". Make a decision and stick with it. There are enough Nismo spoiler pics here to start their own sub-forum. Go to local meets and see some in person as well, and then make an informed decision. Spoiler-delete isn't as simple as reverting to OEM side-skirts.

So.. you guys are saying...

1. If the Z doesn't have any wing at all and you want to install the OEM lip spoiler, you need to drill 2 holes

2. If the Z doesn't have any wing at at all and you want to install the OEM Nismo spoiler, you need to drill 4 holes.

3. If the Z has the OEM spoiler and you want to install the Nismo spoiler, you need to drill 2 extra holes and the Nismo spoiler would use the existing 2 holes and the 2 new holes.

4. If the Z has the Nismo spoiler and you want to install the OEM lip spoiler, you need to fill 2 of the holes since the OEM spoiler wouldn't cover up the other 2.

Am I correct?

Also, in item 3, I've heard something about the difference between JDM Nismo spoiler vs. US version of Nismo spoiler.
