Angry Rock Chip, Repair?

While driving to school this mourning, a rock was thrown up by a nearby car nearly 15ft away creating damage on both my front bumper and hood. Spanning only a 6in. span ,four gashes were created on the front right corner, no larger than a cm. or two, the largest a 2cm x 1cm square. The size of the gashes i could've live with for a while, but the depth is my main concern. In each of the four gashes nearly all of the clear coat and base paint were removed. The largest gash is down to bare metal with just primer visible in a few areas. Now my main question what kind of options do i have to repair the damage? I remember reading that the stock hood is Aluminum, but should i be concerned with rusting? And if it makes any differences right now, it has begun to rain. Any Help is Highly Highly appreciated.

I'll get pics as soon as possible...

Happy Holidays
-Steve

You should not be concerned with rusting unless the gash is so deep that water will stay in the cracks. I have all kinds of rock scratches on my hood and it has never rusted. My only advice to you is to go to your nearest nissan dealer and order some touch up paint. It works good, you will apply, never notice from far, and forget it.

I have the chrome silver color, and in my opinion the touch up paint from the dealer is worthless. I ordered a touch up pen and a can of spray from paintscratch.com. The pen works much better than the bottle and brush from the dealer and the color match is better. Not perfect, but infinitely better than the dealer. It's been too cold here to do the part of my bumper that requires the spray, so I won't comment on that yet.

Isn't the hood aluminum? I don't think it'll rust. I just got a nice rock chip just above the windshield and I see rust, I cleaned it up and put this wax stuff on it until I can get a touch up pen.

Have you looked into Langka? It may work well since you have a black colored car. It didn't work that well for me when I had a metallic color. But even if you don't use it like the instructions, you can use it to clean off any mistakes you made.

I used the product on my previous car...a carbon black M3. The carbon black is a metallic black (actually more like a darker midnight blue). For some reason, the Langka seems to dull the shine of the touch up paint, I don't think that happens with non-metallic colors though.

it won t help, nissan screwed this car by making the front so flat and not using enuff paint. I have to get my redone my bodyshop guy told me he does 3 nissans a week for that issue. What we are doing with mine, sand it, re paint it with 4 coats of paint primer ect, then slap a clearbra on it, this should keep it clean.Better then it was before..goodluck dude
