Help Please,OEM Nissan paint?
Hey, I just spoke with a guy that gave me an estimate at a body shop. My car was hit on the rear bumper and needs to be replaced. He said they did guarantee color match but also said that on some days I might be able to tell a difference due to the paint they used on a plastic bumper. Does Nissan sell their Magnetic Black (G41) paint? Or is it possible to order the bumper straight from them so that it matches. I notice they are still using the same color on the 07 Z.

NVM- You're right I thought I had seen that you could in my price list, but I just checked and you can't.

No body shop can match plastic pieces 100% to the painted steel from the factory. Why? Because the factory can't match it either.
My redline's front bumper was scuffed in a parking lot just days after I bought it. At the body shop, I asked them to ensure that the match is 100%. It was then that the owner (30+ years in business) pointed out that it wasn't 100% from the factory either. He was exactly right. In direct sunlight and at close range, both my bumpers have a very slight orange hue when compared to the painted metal around them. From 4 feet away, you cannot tell the difference.
Flex additives and adhesion promoters used to allow durability over plastic pieces cause a distortion in color. The best body shops can bring it to OEM levels, but not less.

the best you can hope for is a good/great color match but it will never be perfect....steel and plastic pieces are treated differently in order to properly hold paint..look at ANY Z and the bumper NEVER completely matches the rest of the body panels...although like posted earlier black is one of the colors where the difference is less noticeable...just make sure they don't skimp on the metallic flake....
