Is This happening To You?
Looks like your car is an 06' by the looks of your hood, bumper and headlights.....considered still "New." As far as your scratches, those look like it was scratched with a blade and some of the wear looks like acid wash. I've never seen something like that in a new car. GL with Nissan on fixing that issue.

I saw something like that in my Friends BMW 645i, It is wear and tear but its Abusive wear and tear. Do you wear any rings or anything on your hands that may scratch?? I know my friends was from his little ankle biter dog that did scratches similar to what you have on your interior. May have to buy new interior pieces if its starting to bug you.

I have the same problems with my drivers interior door pull and the stock shift ****. Mines an '06 Base with 16,000 miles. The paint is coming off the front bumper anywhere anything bigger than a fly hit it. Please keep me informed, I would like to get mine repaired as well, or at least hear what Nissan says about it. I just thought a girl with long nails owned the car before me! I also have this problem on the pass. door panel at the top:

Nissan told me it would not be fixed because it had been "repaired" which is total bs. Its obviously a defect in the factory coating of the door panel.

Ok, so you don't use any interior cleaner other than for cleaning the windows?
This is odd... the paint it just flaking off without being rubbed or anything? When you do clean the interior, you don't use Armor All or Meguir's Interior Detailer, anything? It looks like you sprayed something on an abrasive towel (paper towels are abrasive, FYI... micro fiber only) and scrubbed way to hard. I have never seen this before.. there are people out there who care nothing about detailing their car and their interior is nothing like this. And you demonstrated that you are meticulous about your Z.
I vote that it is a defect. But no way will Nissan be convinced it is nothing more than normal wear and tear that you caused. Sorry man

All I have right now is the crappy camera phone pic, but I will get better pics and post them later tonight and update this post. My door pulls and shift **** were screwed up when I bought the car, but in the same fashion as yours. The door panel is definately a straight up defect. The finish on my "Z" logo on my rear hatch strut is flaking off as well. Stay tuned for pics...
thats what cheap painted plastic looks like after it gets beat up a little.
I would be pissed too, but cars with cheap interiors will do this.
You should see the panels on my Pathfinder. That ****ty plastics scratches very very easily.

Not calling you a liar or anything but I have a 2003 with 41,000 on it and i still have yet to scratch the interior. Do you let a dog ride inside your Z? Even my pit has put his paws on my doors inside and this has never happened. Can you give us some more detail please. Is it really just as simple as they are there and I don't know why? I'm confused because it looks beat up.
If anyone has a different rational explanation, I would like to hear it.

If any of watch American Hot Rod on Discovery channel back in the days you may remember an episode were the the engine block had been paint and as soon as they tried drilling into it the paint crack off due to a bonding issue with the paint. The painter stated, sometimes you just get a bad batch
For everyone who suspects I'm using product inside the car...I'M NOT!!!!
And everyone else who thinks I were 3 inch fake nails and suffer bouts of claustrophobia and start clawing at my door trying to get out... I DON'T
Here are a couple of pictures of my "nails" and IMO what i think is proof of a bonding problem with the paint, bubbles on the shifter. scratching does not cause bubbles and I DO NOT USE ANY PRODUCTS TO CLEAN THE CAR

At first glance it appears to be a factory defect. This might be the case if the damage was limited to one type of surface but it seems that there is damage on the arm rests, *****, shift cover, etc. These are parts that probably come from different suppliers. It would be an amazing coincidence if all provided defective parts that wound up on your car. I suspect something caustic that attacks paint has been applied to all of these surfaces with or without your knowledge.
The paint lifting off the shift cover reminds me of how paint reacts when paint remover is used to take it off of furniture. Is it possible you were doing some work of this type in the house and forgot to clean your hands before getting into the car? It wouldn't take much of that residue to raise hell with the paint on the car interiors.

Interior parts are interchangeable from one 350Z to another. And you are right: a bad batch with poor bonding could be the root cause. If true, where are the other damaged parts from the same batch?
Again, I am sure that Nissan would like one of these damaged pieces to examine.

Definitely a defect, these up close shots are excruciating to look at
It is bubbling up, indicating that it certainly wasn't scratched or rubbed off during normal use. I just don't get how its on EVERY part of your interior and not just localized to certain areas/ one panel.
