Default New battery! I just shed 20 pounds!

As the title says, I got my Braille B2015C and took out that huge stocker... instant 20 pound loss

The car cranks great and the voltage is actually slightly higher than the stocker.

A few pics:

Here it is just before it went in:

And here it is at its new home:

Comments welcome!

How much did that run you? Does it come with that battery tiie down too? I wonder if you still can run a small system with this battery.

It goes for $240 at www.brailleauto.com, and the aluminum mounting kit goes for $79.99... Not exactly cheap, but it is a tidy setup!

Supossedly, you can run some good audio with this little guy. There is a larger model that will definitely tolerate more of that kind of abuse

Best Regards!

Great mod, here is a pic. I use a trickle charger, otherwise it will die if not started every week or so.

for the price, it better last. My optima battery has lasted me over 4 years so far and still going strong. Can't beat that. Never one time has it gave me any type of problem.

I am pretty confident it will last -- dry cells implicitely have a longer useful life and since my car is a daily driver it will keep it from dying too easily.

In terms of Amp-Hours, I found that under a reasonable drain, Braille performs quite good, here is a little comparison I found:

Braille B2015 = 21 Amp-Hours (15 pound), 1067CA @ 32° F, 35min res.
Odyssey PC680 = 15.4 Amp-Hours (15 pound), 680CA @ 32° F, 25 min res.
Odyssey PC925 = 26 Amp hours (26 pound), 925CA @ 32° F, 52 min res.
Optima D35 (YellowTop) = 48 Amp hours (37 pound), 1000CA @ 32° F, 98min res.
Optima 34R (RedTop) = 50 Amp hours (39 pound), 810CA @ 32° F, 104 min res.

Even though it is a deep cycle battery it will not last as long as one of the bigger guys (size definitely gives an advantage) but it will be ok on daily driven cars and weigh savings are definitely considerable.

I am happy with the mod and I hope that this will be a good choice for at least a couple years.

Hmm...my battery (still the original one) has been working for 4.5 years now. How much longer do you think it will go for? I'd be pretty pissed if it goes out over night when I have to leave to work at like 6AM.

If you drive your car regularly and also dont' have a system, it should last a good while. Also, if you don't play music or use your electronics in the car without the car being on, then it will last a long time. Stock batteries aren't deep cycle, so when it's almost drained, when you start it up again, it will never be the same..keep doign this over time, you will have a dead battery.

My optima, i have left my car sitting there for long periods of times without cranking, still going strong.

Don't meant to hijack, but anyone put one of these (4.5 pounder) on their Z?
