Default I feel a little ricey

I'll be the first to admit, I think this is pretty rice, but I just got carried away! Spent a Saturday installing footwell lighting and then decided to add some LED's to the strut bar. All of these lights only light when the door is opened or I hit my unlock on the alarm. They are not on while driving, or any other time. I think it looks really cool, but I know. . .

I really like how the footwell lights glow is visible through the steering column.

So what do others think?

j/k ...footwells look nice, struts aren't so bad either as long as you arent driving with them on.

I followed this DIY almost exactly

https://my350z.com/forum/audio-video-and-electronics-diy/235662-footwell-lighting-how-to.html

Then I just ran another wire to the back and into the strut bar.

I can't even turn them on while driving. They are only lit when the door is opened or I trigger the unlock on the alarm.

Thanks for comments.

Yea, like I said I'm the first to admit it. Just playing around really - not taking it seriously. I might try changing the LED's on the strut to white instead of blue.

yeah, that's good to hear. Atleast you are contemplating with it. one thing i know for sure is after a year or so, you will look back and say "what was i thinking back then?". It's kinda like a phase. Lights can look cool but sometimes when it doesn't have a purpose and is just straight in your face BLUE, then it's pretty ricey.

Yea, for me it's a boredom phase when you don't have the money or the know how to spend your time doing something like installing a turbo but you're in desperate need a hobby.

That looks awesome. I'm not sure why ppl think it's that ricey. the new IS has this feature too for the footwells.
the only thing I would change is the brightness of the leds...maybe a fainter output would make it more subtle.

The footwell lights look cool. A bit bright maybe, but cool. You usually get that in high end cars anyway, so i don't think it can be ricey, unless you start getting groovy colours and ****. The blue LED's however are definitely RICE, and I personally wouldn't go there.
