Ahh....2 possible solutions:

1) Get some depends

2) Cover your eyes.

Seriously though, I'd really like to know how the sunroof alters the structural integrity of the car. Not only in every day driving/cornering etc., but also the crumple characteristics when involved in a crash.

Thanks for the comments....Its my car.

The sunroof is the best thing I have done so far to the car. Living in So. Cal., I really wanted/needed it.

As far as crumple effects in an accident....? I am taking a chance I guess, but I am a gambling man.

Not only does it look sweet, but it really opens up the car on the inside, and adds to the driving experience. IMO

Default sunroof

You know it's funny. In the service manual I noticed a couple of references to a sunroof when they refer to body panels and such.
But they don't offer a sunroof. I wonder if they plan on doing it in the future?
It does look like a great fit. I just wonder what it would do the the resale value down the road?

In the manual it looks all that is there is sheet metal panel and the sun roof stradles the 2 roof supports. I don't know if it actual attaches to them. But if it does attach the two supports it looks like it would actually make them stronger.

I would imagen that an aftermarket sunroof would leak when it rains and eventually cause some rust, but it does look pretty sweet. Good luck!

Any rattles/squeaks etc? I saw another guy that got the same one and he had some noise problems.

Someone else on here did the sunroof thing and mentioned leaks after it was installed.

Of course, thats not an issue for our man Adman since he lives in perpetual sunny SoCali!!

(Of course SoCali has to drain 1/2 the water out of NoCali in order to wash its cars......but I digress)

ROFL since when is a roof a crumple zone Ur simply removing a small rectangle of sheet metal. Besides, if you were to slam into something where the car would crumple up past the opening of the sunroof, ud pretty much be done for neway!

Get over the structural rigidity factor, i love the Z and all but it aint a Murcielago. Mercedes, BMW, Porsche....all luxury/sports marques fit sunroofs as standard. Ferrari and Merc AMG even build open top supercars! The sunroof for the Z is piffling in comparison. Enjoy the sunshine without having to succumb to the dog ugly convertible Z i say.....

Hehehe...I posted that early this morning on my way to the b-room to get some water. I will flog myself for such a extemporaneous comment...or maybe just have a great Friday night and f'get 'bout it!

My last car had a sun roof and I must say that I miss it...especially when I pull up too close to a traffic light and have to stick my head down near the steering wheel to see it. Also, it helps to see if there might be any speed-enforcement aircraft in the area.

Have a great weekend all!

LOL i do that too sometimes. But more importantly, i just like having the sunroof so as to not feel claustrophobic. The Z being such a small cabin car amplifies that feeling for me. A sunroof, even when just raised circulates air inside the cabin nicely, and just makes u feel less boxed in. I always have my sunroof raised at least, even in the wet.....and no the roof wont rust

But on the Z i wouldnt fit a glass roof like the others have done. Id fit a steel, body colored roof, just for the simple reason that when opened sitting up over the roof, the steel sunroof panel just looks more integrated into the design of the car and less aftermartket.

How much headroom does the sunroof take away? I am 6'2" and cannot afford to lose much.
