Although it will probably be more expensive, brushed aluminum will be the better option. Plus, it'll be lighter. Although, a properly weighted shift **** is definitely much better -- aluminum or steel.

yes it would be a brushed aluminum look or brushed SS. I might do couple black leather ones too, the really stetched black leather, not the fake formed one, like momo.

WTF it's not a flippin Enzo! lol... Seriously though I think the paddles will do it for me. I don't have interest in changing the shifter. Would be sweet if it could be removed completely though, and use the paddles to change from neutral/reverse/drive/park.

Bump for an update . . .
Need to know how long do you think it will take once you have the design in production. Also, do you have an extimated price yet? I'm very interested in your paddle shifter but Works Bell also have a product that is being tested at this very moment (able to keep stock steering wheel also). Obviously, I will have to go with the best price and immediate availability.

I'm also considering another option for a paddle shifter -- read about the Works Bell paddle shifter on the link below:
https://my350z.com/forum/body-interior/277874-works-bell-paddle-shifter-kit-for-the-z-bolt-on-no-mods-necessary-5.html
It retains the OEM steering wheel, along with the controls on it. They're doing a test fit tomorrow. At this time, vendor is pricing the kit at $398 plus shipping, which is very reasonable. Unless James can provide competitive pricing and production availability soon, I think I'll be heading that route.

At $398, the Bell product is looking pretty affordable...

the Works Bell paddle shift looks like the paddles are at 8&4 o'clock on the wheel , james put his at 10&2 where the sweet grip area is. it looks like the Works paddles do not rotate with the wheel, do your paddles rotate James? if so, you did it right. if not, damn, i guess i'll start making some that do move with the wheel. why not wireless rf/infrared like the Retrotek Speed system?

oh yeah, using the Retotek system, you can eliminate the shift **** alltogether and it gets replaced with a pushbutton pad to go from park to drive etc. the paddles could be changed to be at 10&2 o'clock if need be.
