Well the way id do it is if you could elminate the shifter, but place buttons for P R N D and M where the shifter used to go instead. It would look really OEM.

Also, that thing says it uses an RF transmitter...and i would expect that to add some more delay to the shift times. Id rather have it wired directly to the car to eliminate the additional delay.

^^^True. . .I'd be worried about an even slower shift.

Were you able to get a revised cost estimate? Also, what are you looking at as far as these paddle shifters going into production? It'll help us a great deal as interested buyers to know the cost and availability.

have not gotten the revised cost yet. I got a little busy last week as one of our computers at work at a virus.
I have not be able to find the one plugs i was going to use to use plug and plug it so i may end up using wire taps, and/or may require some sodering of 4 wires to the oem, But the wires should be easy to get to and not require the removal of the A/C unit.

looks like 2 popcicle sticks coming form the steering wheel.

-Great job and very inventive. Hope it works out for you.

Looks great James!!! Hope everything is coming along well... I would love to see multiple pics of exactly where the paddles end up along the steering wheel viewed from multiple angles.

I don't know why people want the paddles attached to the wheel though, I found that to become a problem in lower speed cornering... Has anyone ever sat inside a Ferrari F430 with the F1 gearbox? The paddles are PERFECT in that car... you don't need them to move with the wheel, you know exactly where they are at all times. Really it comes naturally pretty quickly, just like knowing when you need to move your hand over to the gear lever in a manual during racing...

Anyway, can't wait for the paddles! Hopefully I can get them soon! I need to do the valve body upgrade too though for those faster shifts.

The ideal setup will be for the paddle shifters to be attached to the steering column, not the steering wheel. As when braking, the ideal time for you to shift is when you're driving straight ahead, not when you're turning. And please don't compare our run-of-the-mill car to an F1 race car that has the shifters on the wheel.

yeah, at only high speeds the wheel may be a better location, but overall driving in general there so much better on the column to me...

I have an SGP tranny wich has complete upgrade throughout. First AT I've driven in a fast car but I'm putting 530 to the ground and shifts are pretty quick but not quite where I feel they should be. I'd say the delay is less than a second though. I actually have to time my shift for just before peak shift period. Tranny is being sent back to SGP for a repair though cause previous owner problem (i think) so maybe when I get it back that issue will be fixed.

Yeah pics would be nice... hows the clearances between the wheel and the headlamp/wiper stalks?
