Default Momo steering wheel install

Alrighty guys i need some help i think on the new momo steering wheel i got in. I removed my old touring steering wheel just fine. However I'm concerned what to do with the remaining wires and how to hook the horn back up.

I've included pics of what i have on and what i have to work with. Can I just cut those two wires with clips off? are they just for the air bag? I'm assuming the green wire is for the horn and i just hook that to the new wheel positive. let me know thanks!

first off you need two resisters to fool the airbag sensor and both the yellow and orange connectors require a airbag sensor. Or you can just have the airbag light blink all the time.

The positive for the horn is that green wire running from the spiral cable. You would connect that to the positive for you horn on the new steering wheel and then depending on what type of wheel you brought there should be some sort of ground connection, either via a wire or the steering wheel itself.

Search for a thread on how to reset the airbags, it works, I did it with my install. Yes green wire is horn. Tape the other wires around the steering column. (wrap them around and then tape them).
It looks like you are using the Momo hub (bad choice), they have been known to cause problems, do yourself a favor and get the Works Bell, it also comes with the airbag delete resistors that work.
Good Luck!

+1. Do not cut anything! Did your momo hub come with the airbag delete resistor? If not, you definitely want to pick that up. I don't know why ppl are saying the momo is a "bad choice" I've seen some on this site that look great (as far as fitment goes). I think some of the earlier Z applications didn't fit well, but they have improved since...

You have to follow this EXACTLY.

1. Turn the key from off to on.

2. Watch the airbag light closely. It will stay on for a few secs. and then as soon as it blinks off (the start of the flashing), turn the key off instantly.

3. Count to 5 (1 Mississippi, 2 Mississippi . . . .)

4. Repeat steps 1-3 two more times until you have done the cycle three times.

5. Now turn the key on and watch the light. It will start blinking in a different, slower manner. This is diagnostic mode. You can watch this for a little while, no hurry.

6. Now turn the key off again, Count to 5 like in step 3 again, and turn back on. If the procedure worked, the airbag light will not be flashing

what are the values of the resistors needed? 2.2ohm like the seats and curtain bags?

Yes I believe mine said 2.2. Or you could just buy these male pronged ones and call it a day.

Just did my MOMO hub and steering wheel install. My horn works fine, the turn signals do the automatic switch off when I steer, but I was stressing because it only came with one resistor; so I got one pair of works bell resistors.

After installing the resistor the air bag light still blinked. I did the reset procedure with the key ignition noted above and everything works as if the stock steering wheels was still on. My day is better now

thanks chad. can anyone else confirm the resistance is 2.2ohm? i would rather buy a $0.05 resistor than a $20 one

I am getting ready to do this swap for nardi deep cone steering wheel. I want to keep my cruise control and re route it somewhere else. I am trying to figure out what wires it is. From the steering wheel there only seems to be a pos and neg (black/red) wire that comes from the controls into the hub.

What wires are they under the steering column that I can splice into so that I can move the wires to say my seat heater switches which I no longer need?

I have a momo wheel and could never figure out how to get the horn to work. The momo wheel came with an aluminum ring with a little tab connect to it for one of the wires to slip over, however, when you put this aluminum ring behind the steering wheel and try to bolt everything down, the horn button is not centered in the works bell hub. So then I use the centering ring that came with the works belkl hub, but then the ring that came with the momo wheel wouldnt fit between the centering ring and the steering wheel.

I can help you if you can post some pics.

That ring with the tab needs to go between the quick release and the hub.

If you put it between the quick release and steering wheel, it will not be a sufficiant ground because the only thing grounding it would be the 6 screws that go into the aluminium quick release. I know it's not a good enough ground because the horn only works if I apply some pressure to left or right side of the steering wheel.

I have just been to lazy to put the ring where it belongs LOL.

There was a some kind of horn button retaining thing that came with mine that i did not need to use.

let me reread yer post again and see if I can figure it out Im half asleep right now

I'm not sure what you mean the horn button is not centered with the works hub. Do you mean the tab is in the way of the horn button? If so just tweak the tab on the ring downward so it doesn't touch the horn button.

The one wire from the car will get conected to the center tab on the horn button. If you have a quick release it will go to the contact point that will end up going to the center tab on the horn.

Then you will run a wire from the outer horn tab (thats the ground wire) to the other electrical contact pont on the quick release. Then on the back side of the quick release you will attach that ground wire to that metal ring with the tab.
