Get an exchange/refund... Does the plug say Philips on it? How much you pay for them?

the housing should have notches to fill the missing portions of the lower ring: meaning it only goes in one way.

Once the bulb is in the socket, spin it a bit so that the "teeth" around the headlight housing will match up with the notches on the ring around the bulbs.

Is that what you meant? If so, hope that helps.

Other than that, what exactly should we be looking for on that picture? As far as right or left... either bulb should fit on either side. Also, I believe if you have an 03-05 set of HID headlights, you should get the D2R HID size not D2S/D2C which are for 06+ headlights.

if its a phillips D2r bulb, then the notches install on the top in the housing and the extra little bar piece is below the glass. The one of the left is oriented correctly with how it should be in the housing if your looking into the projector.

Those look like D2R, I think... I think I see little shields over the glass capsule, yes?

Can you just rotate the capsule inside the plug? If you do i'd use a paper towel or something, oils on your hand are very bad on the glass and will shorten the life of the bulb.

Are you positive you installed them correctly?

And the light output for the 6000k may not be as good as the stock 4300k.

The shield is only to help prevent glare with reflector headlamps... If you don't see light scattering above the cut-off it's fine. Although you may have already compromised the structual integrity of the capsule and it may shorten its life or explode at some point.

D2S and D2R have different notches on the base. one will not fit on the other (can't use D2S if the housing is for D2R and vise versa). D2R has the black strip to prevent glare use on reflector housing. D2S is use on projectors housing. 06-08 are D2S. Go with Phillips!!! I have 6000K and it has the purple line. Stock is brighter, but the 6000K looks really, really nice. I don't have any problems driving at night, so I'm ok with 6000K.
