Default Beware of Mobile Windshield installers.

I have learned a very important lesson when my windshield on my Z needed to be replaced.
1. Do not use a company called Safelite autoglass, to do ANY window repair.

2. If you ignore #1, and use a mobile glass installer, watch the installer do the work on your car.

3. If they damage any part of your Z, get insurance involved and do not fall for, "We can repair the damage at our shop, do not get your insurance involved."

The installer was nice to tell me he cracked the passenger roof pillar panel. One hour rolls by and the installer tells me he is done. He takes off as I look over the car.

I notice first the minor scratches he put on the roof edge, in front of the Z, where the windshield/seal/roof meet. This goes along the whole front of the roof.

The next set of scratches I noticed was on the passenger roof pillar panel, now I am pissed.

I called the Safelite Auto glass company while I was sitting in the driver side of the Z with the door wide open. Thats when I noticed the next set of damage. I left my cell number for a manager to call me about damage on the Z.

My drivers door seal was hanging down loose from the car. WTF?! I look inside the seal and see an eyelet where a plastic retainer holds the seal to the body of the car...the eyelet was ripped and the seal was Focked!
I thought I check the passenger side too, the same deal was on the passenger side.

Luckily AAA is taking care of the matter but Safelite is getting the Bill for the damage and they are not happy about that.

Today the manager wanted to see the damage for himself, I told him he could meet me at my work to look at the car. He arrives and I show him the damage.

All he could say is "Wow, how unfortunate." Then he proceeded to tell me that my "warranty" will be invalid if I did not give HIS company a chance to fix the damage.

I told him "First I do not trust you or any body at his company to fix my Z". He claims to tell me that he could get the parts cheaper than my Autobody shop and that I should LET HIM take the car and just get it fixed without insurance involved.

In the end I told him that my car is going to the Bodyshop tomorrow and that if you have a problem with my decision that he contact AAA, not me any more.

Here some pics of the Craptacular job Safelite is known for, enjoy!

My camera sucks and I cannot get the fine scratches in the paint to show, trust me those who one a black Z knows every nick, scratch and dent on there car.

What was the guy doing? I do bodywork, so I've seen windshields put in a million times. There's nothing they do that should scratch the car, especially not that far back.

Edit: NVM I know what he did. Didn't even think that the pillars come off for the windshield. He split that pillar pulling it back. Not really the guys fault persay. All cars are different and parts like that can easily be cracked during removal. The company is responsible for it though.

Ohh, and I could have told you Safelite's a rip off. They charge more than twice as much as the place I use.

I've used them maybe 4 times all with civics.
I've had pretty good luck but as with anything, it all depends on who does the job.

Holy crap! This scares me, I'm about to get my windshield replaced (not going with Safelite) and I honestly think I would kill the guy on the spot if he did that. How the hell did he crack that? That almost seems downright impossible.

Safelite sucks! I am on my third windshield and safelite did the last one. He broke the same piece you pictured and denied doing so. I raised hell with the local office and three weeks later I had the new piece on my car

Yeah that part the pillar cost about $355.00. Stuff on the Z is pretty damn expensive.

Thats why I went to my insurance. The tech admitted to cracking that panel and I was not that upset...its the other stuff I found later and the whole "we can fix it, there is no need to get the insurance involved".
