Default Hatch Squeaking

I searched and searched but couldn't find anything relative --

The top right of my hatch squeaks like mad while driving. I don't know where exactly it's coming from but if I put a small peice of cardboard between the hatch and body it stops it for a bit, but eventually the squeaking comes back and I have to move the cardboard.

Anyone else??

Is it a squeak or rattle? Fist issue I had with the hatch was a squeak. Turned out to be the metal clips on the interor hatch cover. I put electrical tape on those fittings and shoved it back in so there was no more metal to metal contact and the squeak was gone.

FF a year or so then I got the imfamous hatch rattle. The only thing I tried that got rid of the ratlle 100% was to take that cover off. I tried close to a dozen diff. things and only removing got rid of it permanently.

So now I just ignore the noise. Sometimes the rattle is worse than others, sometimes if ya just open it and reclose it goes away for a while, blah louder music.

The Loop on the Hatch striker its self......go to Home Depot and get Aluminum HVAC tape.....Remove the Srtiker Loop From the Latch and Place the Aluminum Tape between the Srtiker Loop and the Hatch lid....(I put 3 layers of Aluminum Tape). After you complete this crank down on the two Phillips head screws the hold the Loop to the hatch. This is what I did. It made me the most happy Z owner in the world after I did this......I wish I had pics but I sold my 06 awhile ago.

I did something similar like that for my rattle. It worked great for about 500 miles then whalla back again. So I added a bit more material and did nothing.

Nope...but when you wash the car and you're almost done drying it...don't tell me it doesn't tick you off when you lift the hatch and all that water runs down both sides. sux.

Mine squeeked before, all I did was pull out the side panels on the latch, adjust it forward so that when you close the hatch its snug and tight. Problem solved.

Why don't you just dry your roof and hatch first and then pop it open? All the water gets done running out by the time i get to the rear fenders and nothing drips...just takes a little technique
