Can Halogen Headlamps accomodate OEM HIDs?
It's a pretty simple question. My current set of headlights on the Z look like crap because the lens is scratched up and starting to suffer from tiny stress cracks. I was wondering if I could buy like a cheap pair of headlights online and swap out the bulb and ballasts from my OEM pair into the halogen ones from online. Would that work? Please take into mind that I know nothing about lighting.

a simple answer is no, it can not be done. just search and you will find other threads asking the same thing because some have tried this and basically got stuck with a crappy set of lights (or they bought first then asked). it has to do with the housings being completely different.

Im guessing you are talking about buying the OEM 03-05 base model lights which only came with the halogens? If so you can use the OEM HID's. I have done the swap on my base model along with plent others on this site and had wonderful results. No condensation inside the housing or anything like that and I've had the kit for almost 2 years now. PM the user JUN since i believe it was him that was selling the kits when I bought mine and get his input on the situation.
Hopefully I'm not off on your question but maybe this will help in some way.
