Paintcode on PPW?
I have a 06 PPW Z and I'm wanting to repaint the sideskirts, they are scraped up.. but the only paint code I could locate on the car was "QX1"
Is this the correct paint code? I have to go 2 pints of PPW paint and I want it to be sure it'll match the car. Also, does PPW have pearls in them?
I'm going to Sherwin Williams to purchase the paint.. FYI. Any help?

paint code will only get you close... without proper mixing and tinting, it won't be a perfect match. You will have to spray test panels and compare. You are getting a different brand paint and most likely spraying a tinted primer. All that and having a 3 stage process with metalic and pearl make a proper color match VERY difficult..

+1 I used PPG paint and its as close as you can get to a match.

more than likely if you were to order some QX1 (PPW) over the phone or mouth the color of the base coat will come out too white, the mid coat (pearl) will be ok. so if your doing the paint yourself you should take your gas cap off your car and take it into the paint store and they should be able to mix the right base coat for you. dont use sherwin williams, it is a low grade paint. and you should only need about 1 pint to do both side skirts. 1 pint mixed 1:1 with base and reducer will make you 2 pints.

or instead of driving around with out your gas cap you can take your bumper mud flap/splash gaurds pieces or whatever they are called off and give paint shop to help them match it.......thats if your car is so equipped with them..

^same thing. take 5 min. to take gas cap or splash guards off, you could do them in the parking lot of the paint store.
and the reason we use gas cap bc it has to be a flat surface for the computer to read the color. the splash guards aren't exactly flat, so there goes your theory.

I let a painter "wing it" with just the paint code once, for le mans sunset.. wow was he off, way too dark. 2nd attempt they are getting my gas lid for sure.. lots of tough to match colors for the Z.
