Default Issue with my 350zr HIDs :(

So recently BOTH my OEM headlights had a leak in both the enclosures and the HID light stop working. All other bulbs worked (turning, high beams, etc).

So I talked to a few shops and they said to replace the whole headlight.

I went and bought this POS on ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...3AIT&viewitem=

First off when I opened the package the harness cables only had 6 wire plug vs the OEM 8 wire plug. This was due to the fact that the OEM has 2 wires for the motor and the after market doesn't have it.

I ended up splicing the OEM harness cables and using it in the new enclosure, sealed the cuts up with this sealant, tested the lights out and they all worked. Pop the bumper back on and drive around for an hour and they works..

This afternoon when I tried showing off my new lights to a friend, the HID lights have stopped working... both of the HID didn't turn on.

Could both bulbs die? Was it my wiring? fuse problem? electrical problem?

If my wiring was wrong, then why did it work for an hour of me driving around then die?

Any help would be appreciated

Should've stuck to OEM headlights... 06+ is expensive, but FTW. Hell, I'd rather have my OEM 03 HIDs over those ebay replicas.

Most of those lights say they do not work on cars with HID's already probably because of the plug issue you are running into now. Aftermarket HID's are very cheaply produced and sometimes can work for a long time. Some times they only last days. Think of them this way, produced as cheaply as possible so quality will be low and how long they last is anybody's guess. Get new bulbs for your oem ballasts and run those in the new lights.

Get bulbs here: http://www.hidplanet.com/philips4100k.html
HID Planet has good articles on this kind of stuff.

Two possibilities:

1. Your bulbs are dead or dying, you need to get new bulbs.
2. Your ballasts are dead or dying, you need to get new ballasts.

If I had to guess, it would be number 1, since it's moisture-related, probably the bulbs made contact with water, causing them to die earlier.

You really didn't need to buy new headlights, just re-sealing them would've been fine.
The reason you have 6-wire vs 8-wire is because the ebay headlight you bought is for base 350z models that came with halogen headlights (03-05).

You are positive you sealed the wires completely?
A little moisture with electricity = not good.

I chopped up the wires pretty good and used electrical tape. Every other connection works, seems like i narrowed it down to bulb, ballast, or possibly a fuse? where is the fuse box? If my other lights get power, can I assume that it is not a fuse problem?

Not sure how it could be #1, it's a new sealed enclosure, how can bulbs go out so quickly?
