If your z is equipped with hids. Then its just a matter of switching out the bulbs to 8k. If you have a base model then you would need to ge a kit.
I have some 8k bulbs for sale btw. PM me if your interested

I believe aprox. 4100k (k = temperature = color) is optimal for lighting the road.

If you go up to 10000k the light is less effective. It doesnt light up the road as well. I wouldn't go higher than 6000k.

If you want the best go with Phillips.

Higher the K the less light output you will get. 6000k is popular but look quite blue vs the oem 4100k lights. If you like blue looking lights then thats yoru ticket. 6000k lights running from the same 35w ballast (OEM) will have less light out put than a comparable 4100k bulb will. (not much but some) a 10000k bulb will be very dark purple and have very little light out put.

Just an FYI, technically anything over 4100k OEM color is illegal in your car. If you ever got into an accident at night and hit somebody who knew the difference (or if the cop did), having illegal bulbs with less light than OEM could be used against you pretty easily.

I was under the impression that more K means brighter the light they will give. I just ordered some 10K HID bulbs for my car and from looking at the pictures, it seemed like the higher the K was, brighter the light was.

That's where I got mine from and 10K seems fairly bright and blue. Oh and also I am looking for instructions on how to change them, which is how I ended up finding this thread in google in the first place.
