Default Where and How to replace some trim?

For some reason the "finish" is peeling off my dash storage door, and my drivers armrest is all scratched up. I was wondering where a good place to order replacement parts for that kinda thing is, and how hard is it to diy? Or would a dealer do it for me if I brought in the parts?

Alternatively, I was thinking about using some sort of cool modded fabric or carbon fiber wrap. Any thoughts? I don't want to get involved in too big/$$ of a project though (upgrading sound system first).

there are a decent number of people selling interior pieces in the marketplace, some may be in better shape than what you currently have.

Default door/storage above radio

Also, I should've mentioned, for some reason, I cannot find this particular part anywhere-- it is the door over the little storage space above the radio.

I pulled my center console out and painted it with Dupli-Color Vinyl and Fabric flat black.

Came out real nice.

That looks great! How long did the whole thing take? I'm not much of an autogeek, a bit worried about pulling out consoles and such. Do you need phat skillz?

pulling the center console is easy, just involves removing a few screws. I like to use a magnetic screwdriver so I dont drop the screws though.

theres a DIY about taking off the center console.

that seems like a more economical option than buying pieces separately, will it work for armrest and center glove compartment pieces too?

yes it will work, but the surface texture is completely different on the other pieces that you mentioned. either way, there is always the option of taking those pieces off and bring them to a auto upholstery shops and have them do it for you.
just make sure the center glove box and the arm rest pieces are completely dried before you install them back. those pieces are harder to avoid touching if the paint is not completely dried and cured.

The color match on the door / window controls was not an exact match compared to the vinyl covered section to the rear of the controls. BUT, the difference was not significant enough for me to care about.

I did not paint the center console that goes between the seats, back from the shifter area. I have some minor scratches there but not enough to warrant pulling it out and painting.

Blazemaster is right though, the color and texture are different. Not sure what the results would look like. Scratches in that center piece that are visible would probably still be visible after painting.

How hard is removing the armrest?

Mine, on the drivers side is really scratched up. I think it may be from my watchband, not sure though.

Thumbs up

dude i have the same problem! i went to the stealership and asked about the armrests in the parts dept. and apparently it's like $92 dollars each.

the one on my drivers is really scratched up as well. my passenger side armrest has a couple smalls ones, but being the perfectionist i am and especially after seeing the 370s interior i really want them replaced. id like to replace the button that opens the compartment on the center console and a piece of the trim on the driver side by the door handle, as well.

check these pictures out:

drivers side armrest:

door handle:

so i guess the best option would be to take the pieces off, and take them to an auto upholstery place? any help here guys?

yup, that's exactly what the armrest on my drivers side looks like. My center console compartment and butten are fuxored also. And now there are some small defects/scratches on the dash in front of the steering wheel, a bit towards the center, as well (I think from my portable gps). The 350's interior finish is not very durable, in fact may be the worst of any car made. Certainly of any car I have owned.
