Default how to weld in Autopower roll bar?

Hi

i have the 4p RACE ROLL BAR, and as far as i understand it has to be weld in .

have you guys just weld it direcly to the chassi?

here in sweden ive been told that i cant do that.. i have to have a extra plate that takes up the pressure over a bigger space and weld that extra plate to the chassi.. and then bold and weld the roll bar to the plate.

how have you done?

the double plate slightly larger is key in thin chassis areas cause in an accident situation the chassis will just shear if the plates are the same size....

are there racing specs out there where you can check if welding is allowed or preferred over bolting in.......also the racing spec organization rule book will tell you minimum plate thickness and material required as well..

similar to what we have here - SCCA rule book?

thats the thing... we have different rules for different kind of racing

ex rally= ONLY weld

track racing= weld and bolt

24H racing = only bolt

and im not going to race in any proffesional way.. just trach days for fun.. so i just want the roll bar to be able to hold me in my 4p harness

Well then i would weld and bolt.......so that way the officials wont send ya to the spectators section when you get tech inspected...

Make sure to stay in specs when purchasing bolts and plate thickness and materials.

I think you should do a ton of searching.......there are a lot of pictures on threads here where you can see close ups of that area.........and you can see where others have reinforced that area with nice cut to fit plates....

if i remember right, they just tell you to drill holes and install bolts......but thats weak structure there..........best to add plates, distribute load, etc..
