Default How to prevent 350z clear headlight scratches and oxidation

Hi,
My 350z headlights have started to develop very little scratchs and abrassions and starting to look a little bit cloudy. How do you prevent this from happening. I have applied plast-x and that did not work as well as I thought. Any suggestions?

If you are going to drive the car, there is little that you can do to protect against road debris. Some members cover the headlights with 3M clear bra material.

Try the Plastix multiple times and use a buffer or drill, not hand. Cleared up my very cloudy 2001 Maxima pretty well, but it took about 4-5 applications. YMMV

Get a good polish too. I have had good luck with DoDo Juice Lime Prime and a DA polisher.

I bought a Griot's Garage 3" random orbital buffer to do small polishing jobs. I tried it on my headlights with PlastiX and with Flitz metal polish. The buffer did an outstanding job restoring my headlights. I've been taking care of the neighbors headlights as well and I have not had a problem getting any headlights polished and looking original. The buffer only cost $80. and is a great deal.
The 6" buffers will also work but you have to be a little more careful when polishing headlights with the larger size.

plastix ftw the south florida sun can be brutal on plastic but I use this product every 2 weeks and they still look like new. It leaves a film that protects the lense against uv rays and it cleans and shines like a ****....if your headlight are a little cloudy you might have to use a power buffer or a lot of elbow grease. gl.
