I just bought a 2004 and it's in prefect condition with almost no miles on it at all....
I dont like the console too much and would like to put a 2006 console in it instead.
Can i do this? (without a whole lot of mods)
I just want to be able to bolt it in and have an exact replacement.
Is this possible?

not hard at all but you need to source 3 parts; center console above the tranny tunnel, upper center dash (with the gauge pod), lower shifter dash (with the shifter a/c controls).
to get the a/c ***** to work is a diff story i believe... you need the white box thats connected to them.
better off finding a 07+ car. better everything.

not entirely true^ it depends on the trims of the two vehicles swapping parts. I have done the swap twice, the first time I did not have to wire anything (same trim and options) second time around I did have to extend the wires. I also relocated the VDC button to the center console this time.

i did it in my 03 base. got a complete center console from an 08 (where the hazard button is oblonge shaped and centered between the shifter and temp controls). theres another arrangement of it if i'm not mistaken were the haz button is located in the upper left hand portion of the shifter bezel/ trimming (unless its just different from autos and manuals) mine was a direct swap though, from the gauges and waterfall all the way back inbetween the seats where your rest your right elbow. no rewiring for the haz button, just a little bit of moving and adjusting the cable. all-in-all, definitely worth it to do in my opinion. it looks much nicer, and you have an additional two cup holders! ahh, and you wont have the annoying passenger pushing your haz button without you noticing anymore either, lol.
