Never had an issue. I treat all the leather once a month, and keep the car garaged and have tinted windows. It's probably damage from the sun. Do you keep a sunshade in the front window when you car is not in the garage? That helps ALOT

^^^ I agree. Using a good leather cleaner/preservative once every few months keeps the leather on the steering wheel in good shape. You might try products like Lexol or leathertique even though the surface of your steering wheels are already damaged. It could keep the leather from peeling further.

^Keeping your leather conditioned is a great idea for people with leather. But what he is speaking of is the aluminum pieces on the steering wheel. The part were the cruise control buttons are layed out on. Mine has this issue to. I just started scraping the rest off with my nails cause its annoying to look at.

Does anyone know if I can just order these parts, or any other recommendations?

Ohhhh ok, the 1st post said nothing of that.

Yeah mine has started doing that too. It's like the clear coat or something is scraping off. I guess you could paint it, or get one of bluebatmobile's overlays. The only bad thing with both those suggestions is that you won't be able to see the words anymore.

I read a how too a while back on replacing those, and if i remember you have to pretty much remove everything on the steeringwheel, including the airbag to get to them.

when i bought mine used, my steering wheel was already peeled on top (leather), looks like from the florida sun as well as the aluminum pieces where the radio and cruise control goes. I have been looking for a cheap alternative since and it looks like you need to buy a new steering wheel or get it reupholstered. I know, it sucks!

I like how the letters are on the buttons. I wanted to do an overlay for a while, but didn't want to cover the letters up.

These are the OEM parts just like the ones we have in our cars from Nissan so yes they lit up and take about 20 minutes to swap.

I mean are they plug and play for the older year Z's that didn't have light up buttons. I.E. I have a 2003 where the buttons don't light up, and the writing is on the silver bezel around the buttons, not on the buttons themselves.

I though the airbag and whatnot had to be removed in order to replace these?

I see what you mean now. To be honest, I have no idea. If there's anyone in Madison Wisconsin I can try it out and see.

I remember a few years back there was a How-To where members were putting the ones from the FX35s in the Z because they lit up. If i find it, i'll post it for others.
