Default is this too ricey?

i was thinking of wiring those underglow bulbs on either side of the car to light up when the car is unlocked, giving a similar effect to the new bmws with the leds in the door handles. the lights would not be on while driving and not an obscene color, just white, and only on when the car is unlocked. but there is a part of me that knows underglow bulbs can never escape the riceness. what are your thoughts?

Not 2F2F rice, but rice nonetheless. I wouldn't do it.

It's not rice. I'm not sure why people like to call everything rice. It's a light that comes on when you open the door so you can see better. It's like a dome light, but at the door. It's a good idea. But there's probably a better light source to use.

Not rice - my Focus RS has it, my mums Jag has it too - both from factory - both in the rear mirrors.
I think it just has to be installed very clean and it wont look rice at all.

it was a factory option in Japan (actually there were 2 different lighting kits offered)

I think if you get the color something that compliments the interior, you'll be good.

At the end of the day its YOUR car so do what makes you happy.

My opinion is that its tasteless, cheesy, and queer. Id also hope when you take your light up car to in for an oil change that they put the lift posts on the gayness and shatter it

exactly, i dont really want to go the underglow route, it was just the idea that popped in my head. i was even thinking just using a few leds under each door to give a little light, nothing too crazy. i believe brabus had something similar that they do on the benzes.

its not approval/assurance. if i wanted neon underglows i would do it. i am just asking advice. the guys on here are knowledgeable and helpful and sometimes a second opinion and/or alternate suggestions is the best route before you start drilling holes under your car.

maybe it's not seeking approval, but rather just getting opinions from fellow owners?

it's just as legit a question as anyone else's, assuming it hasn't been asked and answered a million times

sometimes you can tell when people are just fishing for a compliment, or aren't serious about the part they are enquiring about - but other times it becomes pretty easy to see the poster is well intentioned and just asking for others legit opinions
